A couple of years ago, I saw a 3 panel wooden picture screen/room divider. It is similar to the ones that hold the 8x10 photos but this one was only for 4x6 photos. It was about 5 ft tall, had three panels and each panel had 4x6 frames that hung all the way down. It was a great way to display lots of 4x6 photos. Has anyone every seen something like this before?

You can scan your photos and use just about any basic photo editing software to change them to sepia tone. Not having a home printer (and feeling that store printers are better quality anyways) I would then save the image on a flash drive or CD and take it to Target, Walgreen's or Sam's Club, etc. to be printed. If these directions seem complicated (they're really not!) just ask a teenager how to scan a photo. Doesn't it seem like they are always more saavy when it comes to technology anyways? Once you get them to help you with the scanning they will certainly know how to change the image to sepia and save it for you. Then just take it to the store and have them print it out!

I don’t think you can just go out and buy a bunch of art because you want a wall. I would start by collecting prints, paintings, or photos over time that appeal to you. Putting them together later will be easier if they have something in common: all enlarged black and white photos; all vintage prints; oil paintings; similar frames; similar subject or style. You can mix it up, but I think that’s a bit trickier. Search for images of gallery walls or salon walls and get some ideas of what you might want it to look like. Don’t try to go up high on the wall, keep the arrangement below what would be “normal” ceiling height. Here are a few that involve pianos, but there are plenty online over consoles that would give you additional ideas. To avoid making a thousand holes in the wall, I once set up a “photo shoot” where I propped each piece on a chair and took a photo from the same exact spot so the scale would be somewhat correct. Then I printed them on plain paper, cut them out, and arranged them on a table to get the general layout. Or you can make paper templates and use tape to lay them out right on the wall. Or arrange them on the floor in front of the wall if you have enough space. hope this helps

Here are 3 quick arrangements. These are done on a black background (arrangements were done in autocad) but should still give you an idea of some other schemes. Keep in mind that the negative or blank spaces can be as important in a composition as those spaces filled. Would also suggest that you lay them out on a floor and do test arrangements there instead of nailing the frames to the wall. Good luck and be creative!!
