Bought 3 anthracite Silgranite sinks off Craigslist. Each brand new and for less than half the normal retail price. Found my kitchen sink on my local (Austin) craigslist and the two prep sinks (one for the TV room and one for the butler's pantry) off the Atlanta craigslist. A friend in Atlanta actually went and made the purchase for me and then held the sink till I could get out to visit her and pick them up. I've discovered that if you are looking for a pretty specific item, it isn't necessary to individually search every city's craigslist. Instead, try googling craigslist plus terms describing what you want. So, for example, I googled "craigslist anthracite silgranit sink" one day and bam, there they were, newly posted in Atlanta. Of course, if you want to buy from a non-local craigslist, it helps to have friends scattered all over the US that you can talk into meeting the seller and checking the item out for you!

We had thought our sink "ledge" would be about 3.5",. The day our templating was done was a crazy day--everybody involved with our project was here at one point or another, but I could have sworn I heard the guy say that piece would be 3.5". It ended up being 4" (they told us they normally like to do 4.5", what the...!?!? Who can reach the sink with that size ledge?). I know they don't like to cut that piece too narrow, in order to avoid breakage during transport. I thought that was the purpose of rodding that piece? As far as I can tell, ours is not rodded. I HATE having a piece that wide (deep?) in front of the sink. I am 5'3" and despite having long arms, it is a stretch for me while washing stuff in our sink. I honestly feel that I would be much happier (and more comfortable) had our ledge been 1/2" narrower (3.5" vs. the 4" we currently have).

Wow--I've never heard of seconds! Do NOT get it from Homeclick. I got mine there. It has numerous defects-black pinprick on the front face, big white pimple on the top lip, one front corner 1/4 inch lower than other, and drain/logo reversed from how it is normally done (they put the logo on the opposite side due to all the defects I just listed, which then switched the drain side, IF one wanted the logo visible). It was too heavy to return, so I negotiated 10% off. Btw, I called Rohl, and they were most unhelpful. This was during the sink shortage, so maybe that had something to do with the disappointing customer service? They actually described all those problems as "possible" and within tolerances. Sure sounds like a "second" to me! But I've heard great things here about Home and Stone, and they are just as cheap as Homeclick (and free shipping, no tax).

I am always standing at my 33" single sink and saying how much I love my kitchen. Such a simple thing that makes such a big difference. Even DH likes it because we can both stand at it and do two different things at the same time. As far as cleaning the stainless grid, I fill the sink until it is completely immersed in hot water and add a splash of chlorine bleach, let it sit for 10 minuets. Then I rinse. Presto, clean grid.
