On line you can check out the cost of various fuels per million btu. Cut wood is one of the least expensive ways to heat a home. Growing up we never paid for wood, always sought out free junk wood and I just cleaned the chimney a few times a season. Now that I have a child with asthma and a home that is only served by electricity I have had to rely on heat pumps and a pellet stove. (Puffs of smoke from wood stove when opening the door to feed wood are a problem for asthma.) Cold days when the heat pumps start cutting in electric resistance heat we run the pellet stove. It was the largest I could find (E----o Maxx) and holds three bags of pellets. The fan is LOUD - similar to a window AC unit on high (moved the TV to another room). Having used a wood stove for many year (before child) I can give first hand benefits of a large pellet stove. 1. No smoke or dust in the house. 2. We leave it unattended all of the time, it can even be wired to a thermostat. 3. Simple operation - don't have to adjust or babysit the fire. 4. This year I bought 2 tons of pellets for about $360 stored in the garage. I am fine with spending the money for the convenience.

I used a Harman P68 pellet stove to heat my entire home last year. Its about 2,600 sq ft. It heated the main house and upstairs easily. The family room we added on is 46 feet from the stove and has 11' ceilings. When its cold we use the oil to warm it up at night then turn it off when we go to bed. I used very little oil. I still heat hot water with the boiler. We run are stove 24/7 with no problems. Its designed for that. The harman has a large ash pan and you can burn about a ton before you have to empty it. I would think you could heat your whole house with the stove depending on the layout. I used about 4.5 tons last year. I bought 5 tons this year at $219.00 a ton. I have to pay a delivery charge but don't have the bill yet. Probably end up being around $235 with delivery. My oil dealer said I use about 1,100 gallons a year. some is used for the hot water but not much i have found. I figure it costs me about $1,200 less a year to heat with the pellets pepending on the price of oil. I figure the stove will pay for its self in 2-3 years. There are other benefits. Not using foreign oil, non polluting, burns a waste product etc that I like. the heat is very comfortable and does not seem to dry out the house like a wood stove. I wish the pellets were around 200 a ton but demand has increased them. Hopefully they won't go higher.

First off I really liked it many many uses,I myself since kids left its just hubby &I.I had lapband surgery so I cant eat but 2-3 fork fulls,at a meal,So Im not cooking as much.I make lots soups, etc. Slow cooking roasts,we never were big on eatting out we like homemade.. I have all holiday meals here.It was nice with the Aga get everything ready place in different ovens,it was ready when guests arrived.I have the 4 oven black.It has 2 huge burners on top you start the food on top put in oven then.A large warming tray .We updated it so it was more efficient.We sometimes shut down over summer and cook on grill for summer.It was nice for certain crafts.hubby dried gloves boots in front.We had it seviced yearly,I waxed it every year with car wax.Last a lifetime.20,000 in canada but were asking 5,000. Im now getting ready for transplant (kidney) so now is a good time to sell.I 'll miss itTheres a hot for broil,hot baking,Aoven for lower baking,a warming oven ,a simmer oven,I often use simmer while at dialysis ,it was ready when I got home ,nice because the last thing I want to do is cook when I get home.

This is actually a very good layout! Kitchen workflow: refrigerator --> prep sink --> prepping --> range --> table (or cleanup sink) The Cleanup Zone is separated from the Prep and Cooking Zones, the Cooking Zone is protected from traffic, there's no zone-crossing while prepping/cooking, and there appears to be ample workspace for each work zone. One question - what is that block to the right of the island? If that's a wall or something else, then you don't have enough aisle space b/w the island and that wall. You don't need two trash pullouts. Set up your island as follows (top-to-bottom or left-to-right): 18" trash pullout + 18" sink + whatever space you have left over for cabinets (hopefully, at least 36") This places the trash pullout in the Prep Zone (where it's used most), near to the Cooking Zone (where it's used 2nd most), and near the Cleanup Zone (where it's used least of the three primary work zones). If you have the room on the island, then opt for a 21" or 24" sink base for your prep sink. The interior dimensions of a sink are usually 1" to 3" narrower than the sink base cabinet. We have a prep sink that's 17-3/4" square and I use it all the time! It's a good size for just about anything. Is it big enough for all tasks, no, but that's when I use the cleanup sink - it's rare that I use the cleanup sink for prepping, though. If the island is supposed to have seating, then be sure it's at least 41.5" deep to accommodate: 1.5" counter overhang + 24" deep cabinets + 1" decorative door/end panel + 15" clear knee/leg space for the seating overhang.
