There doesn't seem to me to be anything other than weeds there (sorry, I know some folk find edible or medicinal qualities in some weeds and I have no info on those). For my mind, I would pull the lot. The yellow flowering with clover like leaves is oxalis. The rest is, I think, Alternanthera and the thing that looks a little like a petunia seedling in the middle is probably Richardia. I'm more into hand removal than spraying, and with some of those like the oxalis you will need to carefully dig down and remove the little bulblets that form otherwise they will just disperse. The spreading plant also needs to be removed wherever it has rooted as any little bit left will possibly form a new plantlet. Depends how fast you want to turn the ground into gardens for something you prefer. You could spend a couple of hours sitting in the sun and dgi out quite a bit. There are home-made sprays you can use that aren't quite as toxic. You could smother the plants with black plastic and let the heat of the sun kill off what's below over a couple of weeks. If you clear it--- nothing more certain than that weeds will return - either remnant seeds from what you have there, or what blows in on the wind from elsewhere. So, whatever you plan to do, plan to get in some decent mulch to stop the weeds from re-appearing.

Hi all! We have a creek that divides our back yard in half. The back half is basically a flood plain. It doesn't flood often (maybe seasonal, but then it drains off quickly), but we've had some puddling and erosion when it has. We've been dealing with that awful Japanese stilt grass, and would love to try to get rid of it in favor of some natives (or non-invasives) that can deal with seasonal flooding and erosion control. It was a mix suggested by home depot. Never really paid attention to what types was in it. It rained a massive amount here last year. I don't think anyone watered.must have been may when I planted because I watched the bushes and tree and went and bought the seed when they started showing a lot of new green growth. I have never grass grow in green that did not show signs of regrowing the next year. I could understand if it had shown signs that it was having some problem with soil or something but there should be some sign it came in.
