Since your patio is green, you would probably have to paint it some sort of cement type color to form the 'grout lines' before rolling on the bricks. The 4 inch roller is a skinny little roller that I found in the Benjamin more paint store. It came with a roller stick. I attached one of those wooden poles that screwed into the handle of the roller handle. It is the type you would use when you would paint your ceiling. Trust me, you do not want to bend over with the roller for an entire day painting the ground! Experiment on some old newspaper first to get your technique down. And, I first went around the entire outside of the patio laying the 'bricks' out along the edge in the opposite direction that I ran the rest of the bricks in. It makes for a nicer look.

I'm about to tile over my concrete front porch, although I don't have the slope issues you do. A couple of folks in my neighborhood have slate tile front porches and say the biggest issue seems to be dust and dirt tracked in due to the surface of the slate being fragile (splits little bits off.) Since I have hardwoods and this is my primary house entry, I'm planning on going with an outdoor rated porcelain tile with quite a bit of "tooth" to the finish for safe footing in my Portland Oregon climate (9 months of rain). You would not want to have standing water on any tile though, so you'll have to deal with the slope, and I really can't address that. I've had to strip the old paint off my porch... there must've been about 10 layers and it's been quite a bear.

People have storm doors because, they open doors and pull down the screen for air. A storm door has a security lock on it, for safety. Phantom screens are wrecked by children and pets go right through them and can escape your property and end lost or worse. I personally, would never ever be without storm doors on my house. I have very nice wood doors, and they are original to the house and still in excellent condition because they were protected with storm doors.

I hope the walkway planned is at least 4’ wide. With a white house, I think you could really play with a front door color. You need a landscaping plan and the plants can echo the door color.
