I have suggested the following to numerous people and it has worked for them. * Pick no more than 4 colors. These colors can be pulled from any item in your room. A pillow, couch, rug, etc. If you want to be save in what you choose, pick the most prominent color. If you want to be bolder and perhaps break a rule, go with the color that is not so obvious. * After you have the colors that you like, narrow them down one by one. The last one is the one you use. This technique helps keep you from getting overwhelmed with choices. Lots of people don't know that paint has "light intensity". The higher the number the brighter it is and the more it will play with available light. Because you have teak floors and cherry cabinets, you might want to get a paint that has some brown mixed into it. Not a lot. You might not even see it when it's on the wall. But it will be brought out with either natural or unnatural light. SG

Red. you should look at some colors for your new room....you will never regret it....I also like the yellow/gold in the picture with the love seat cover. It would give a room warmth and color also helps to blend different pieces of furniture. My most favorite room in my house is my back entry...a decorator helped me pick the colors. We had installed new flooring, a small pattern of squares in beige, grey, pinkies...I wanted a med beige color and she picked a cinnamin for the celing and down to the top of the windows and one door. Rest is a taupy grey and I have a border where the two colors join that has green, grey & taupe in it. The trim is cinnamin....it is a great room and having a darker color on that high ceiling over the stairway is so great...I never get tired of this room....maybe because I painted it.hehe This is a great thread and I enjoy reading what you have done with your home or special rooms. My DH, DD & I painted 15 gallons last year exterior of garage, house & fences....I am not painting this year! Jean

All the rooms colors have a similar depth and tone to them. Most of the colors are earth-toned, but we do have two rooms with a Federal slate blue. Since the house is small and the walls of some segue into others, I the colors to have the same intensity and depth so as not to look disjointed: 1st Floor: Kitchen ~ "Nora's Kitchen Green", a custom blend with a slight olive/mossy undertone...which shares a wall, although divided, with the... Living room ~ "Beeswax", a beautiful ochre gold Guest bath ~ "Beeswax", because it's off the living room. Den and guest rooms ~ "Stormy Blue", a Federal slate blue, reminiscent of a color found in older homes. 2nd Floor: Bedroom ~ "Winter Wheat, a medium earth-toned mushroomy color (okay, brown LOL), which leads into the... Master Bath area ~ "Winter Wheat" I like things orderly, including my flow of colors. But one wild thing are my kitchen counters, which are a port red. Love, love, love them!

I don't know what Revere Pewter would look like with the browns you have, but I've seen pictures of it with walnut and calacatta marble and it look very nice. Buy a sample and paint a board with several coats and set it in the room to see if you like it. It is a Benjamin Moore color.
