Did squirrels chew on your holiday lights?
Comments (90)I have the same problem and wonder WHY? Why this year (never before) Why LED lights? Why do they chew them off, wether they are on or off? WHY colored lights and not white ones? WHY chew the ones on the railing and not on a bush, ( white ones on the bush). From other comments I see this has been going on for years, but the first time for me and I have lived in several cities in Quebec and New Brunswick. I have had lights on eaves, trees and railings and only bother the red ones on my railing this year. All very strange.... BTW, I'm 73 yrs old and its a first for me.......See MoreHow Are Things In Your Neighborhood Today?
Comments (17)It's a good day for me because I'm feeling better! Earlier I posted about my terrible head cold that went into my chest. Started Saturday to take the Mucinex DM that someone suggested and by 3:30am this morning I was still coughing but the good kind of coughing if you know what I mean. Put the cats out and went back to bed, and I was actually able to lay down and sleep after three nights of sitting up. My chest didn't feel as congested. Headache is gone, nose just a bit stuffed up but drippy, still coughing but not nearly as much. Anyhow. Today I chopped up five bunches of celery that I got at Drug Mart - 5 for $1 - to put in freezer bags. Also bought five huge green peppers at 5 for $2. I would have chopped those too but I broke my Vadalia Chop Wizard. :( I've used it so much over the last four years. So I ordered another one from Target this morning!...See MoreWhat would you do if people in your neighborhood
Comments (28)You know, I'm probably the only one who (aside from safety issues) really doesn't think it's that big of a deal. I really can't understand why a nice talk wouldn't be the first option. Why would you first resort to signs or big landscaping projects? Why are people so afraid to talk to or confront people? You're really gonna offend them with a sign... Just try talking to them... Why resort to passive agressive measures as the first resort? And, yes, of course people can sue you, but they can sue you with a sign too (don't fool yourself), and some may be more likely getting hurt trying to jump your newly planted rose bush... Plus, don't most people have homeowner's insurance? I've heard this..."but someone could get hurt on your property and sue you" thing for years, and I have known of people getting hurt on people's property, but I have never ever heard of anyone actually suing anyone when they got hurt on their property without any real negligence. If people are that afraid about being sued, I'm surprise they don't have big gates around their entire yard and property to keep people totally out. It's sad that neighbors just really aren't really neighborly anymore.. Maybe it's because people don't allow cut throughs and nieghbors put up signs to keep other neighbor out. Gosh, in my neighborhood, we don't have side walks, and everyone walks on people's yards (especially when they have kids and dogs with them). The kids all hit balls into each other yards and everybody can go get them with no problem, etc... No body seems to care and we actually all seem to like each other and get along fine, go figure... Plus, no one has ever sued anyone either. It's sad to think you can't let your neighbor take a short cut and walk through your drive way just because it annoys you and you 'could get sued'....See MoreGroup Homes in Your Neighborhood
Comments (11)We bought our home in a rural area. We loved the peace thought we had found our dream home. Two months later the Sheriff was on our porch handing out notifications that the group home up the street ( about 1/4 mile, but nothing between us and it but woods) had just moved in a level 3 highest risk sex offender. We didn't even know it was a group home! Meanwhile my son had been standing out on the road waiting for the bus! They assured us he was no danger to us. They said the offender was so "damaged " emotionally he was afraid of everyone. Do you remember the Russian mail order bride killed by her husband and room-mate in Seattle a few years ago? She was the beautiful blonde? Her murderer is the sex offender who presented no danger to our community. Shortly after that we had a new one move in that was so uncontrollable they shipped him out of state. No laws say you have to notify prospective buyers you have a group home in your area. We would NEVER have bought here, and I would feel liable if we didn't' disclose this to anyone if we did try and sell....See MoreRelated Professionals
