I need help with my kitchen wall color and my cabinet color!
Comments (4)IMO- While I agree with 82mainstreet about painting cabinets white and not expresso, I also believe you won't be happy unless the color combo pleases you. - First, what do you want to accomplish? Are you intending to live in the home for a long time? Or are you painting for resale? - If you are painting for resale, then classic white for your cabinets is your best choice. It has wider appeal. A future owner will find it easier to change the wall color than the cabinets. - If you are planning to stay in the house, you can be more personal in your color choices. - But be wary of fads, especially when painting cabinets. It is much easier to paint walls. From your photo, it looks like your cabinets are nicely finished wood. Personally, I wouldn't change that unless they are damaged. I would just update the wall color, but that is just my opinion. If you do paint the cabinets, don't be swayed by fad colors. I would still recommend white or maybe a pale cream. That way, if you get tired of your color combo in the future, you only have to change the walls to update the room. - Unless you are changing your appliances and flooring, very dark cabinets will probably make your kitchen feel overwhelmingly dark and warm. - Consider your lighting and how you want your kitchen to feel. Does your kitchen feel too warm or too cool when your work in it? - White will give your room a light and airy feel especially if paired with cool blues and greens. If that seems to make the room feel too cold, white or cream can be warmed up with a bright wall color like apricot, lime green or turquoise. Try looking through magazines for color combos you like...or look inside your own closet for colors that make you feel good....See MoreNeed help with my kitchen
Comments (9)Wood stained cabinets are trending in a big way. Yours look like they are in great shape and I probably would not touch them. If you must, I agree that a soft white would look good. You have so much light in your kitchen that I do think black would be great but I don't think I'd like it with your granite. I'd replace your backsplash... go to a tile store, bring home some samples and see what you think. People on here are always happy to chime in. I'd also remove the corbels on your island and update your hardware to a polished nickel....See MoreI need help designing my kitchen!
Comments (4)That floor plan must have all dimensions filled in for anyone to really offer help. What can change in the way of plumbing? Electric? Are any of the walls load bearing? Hiring out or DIY? Budget (needs to hefty with your proposed changes)?...See MoreI need help with my kitchen.
Comments (9)long term I think different wall color would be wise. if you are not occupying this yet I would paint the walls before getting in there. . If its a rental or you are getting ready to sell I suppose it doesn't matter. the gray is dark enough to make the space a lot less desirable than if you had simply white or near white walls. simple hardware. dont overthink it. pulling the strip and adding a backsplash and undercab task lighting would assist with "pulling it all together " as you say. that whole far wall backsplash zone could use a nice tile to distract from the fridge and oven stack right in the middle of everything. when you get to it..beautiful or interesting stools in the foreground there will help things along. how many stools were you thinking ?? pretty flooring / but why the dreary gray walls?...See More- 11 years ago
