Yup. This one was actually my first succulent before I knew what succulents were. A relative's friend just gave us bunch of cuttings and now I have 2 pots of them looking quite nice. I wouldn't say they're the fastest growing, but they do propagate like crazy! They sell these as hanging baskets quite often in nurseries, keep your eye pierced and you should find them some day! If the room is dark and you want to minimize the darker trim, why don't you just get rid of it by painting it white?

The counter looks beautiful to me. Would love a closeup too. I have maple cabinets with the darn yellowing. Had considered painting, but keep thinking the painted cabinet is going to be yesterday's decor. Unless originals are done so, then I would take on a green wood. Am trying very hard to live with them as is, they are in great shape. I painted my walls a brick red, other colors tended to bring out the yellow. There isn't a lot of wall, so the red is more of a decor addition and love how it turned out. Am a bright color person, so suggestion from this side are totally different from the norm. My next one would be a teal blue/green. If you paint the walls, I suggest a very small trim around the ceiling, the same color as the walls or ceiling. Something seems unfinished when I see wall to ceiling in different colors.

If the floors were finished with oil-based polyeurothene, they may have yellowed more with time and light. Not a pro: I was able to match red oak to a dark brown stone tile color by mixing stains and applying repeated coats. But that was only for a transition strip - not a whole floor. The color will be dependent on the specific wood (not just wood species, because wood varies with age and environment, every piece of wood is different), how it’s treated prior to staining, and probably other factors. The stain needs to be tested on a sample of the exact wood used. I bought several small cans of minwax oil based wood finish and some stainless steel measuring spoons that I could bend into ladles, and started mixing stains and trying out different combos on sample pieces of wood. BTW, NO ONE advised me to mix stains - I just tried it against professional advice - but it was a tiny project. Another variation was to wet down the oak to raise the wood fibers so that it would accept more stain, and to apply repeated coats allowing wood to dry in between coats. The finish will also affect the color. The different floors may change color differently over time, especially if one uses oil based poly and the other uses water based poly. So I really don’t know what to recommend, other than to find out exactly how your other matching boards were done.
