Facebook Question
Comments (6)You have to have your own facebook page to post a question so register a page of your own and then follow these directions I got from Facebook. Unless you add a profile photo, no picture will ever show up of you. I use an alias name in FB. lol It serves me well. Go to your Timeline (which we sometimes refer to as your profile) and hover over your profile picture Click Edit Profile Picture to edit your picture Choose whether you want to: Pick a photo you already uploaded to Facebook Take a new photo Upload a photo from your computer Edit your thumbnail Remove your current photo You can use any of the photos you've uploaded to Facebook, or photos your friends have uploaded, if you're tagged in them: Click on the photo you want to use to expand it Hover over the photo and select Options Click Make Profile Picture Crop the photo and click Done Cropping Keep in mind, your current profile picture is public....See MoreNEW! Comments (40)It's not that I ever say/write something on GW I regret sharing here...it's that I have a relative out there somewhere that I don't want to EVER contact me again. Some of you understand why. I know they participate on Facebook & I stay away from Facebook to avoid any potential contact. I consider them dangerous to my safety & they have physically harmed me in the past. Now sure, I could hide from the Internet entirely. But, I don't figure they would ever have an interest that would draw them to GW. I don't know how Facebook works since I don't participate. I don't want to go to bed every night worrying that tomorrow might bring that person back into my life. It's the not knowing part I don't think I can live with & still feel safe. /tricia...See MoreFacebook Anonymity Question
Comments (32)Actually using a fake name isn't all that private if you have friends and family there. There is that "six degrees of separation" thing that sort of gets in the way. Facebook was designed to bring people of commonalities together. If Marita for example joined The Kitchen Table Gang on FB she would be close to disclosing her identity. If she were to have mutual friends on FB with some others from here it wouldn't take long to figure out what she was about just by reading her friends' news feeds, eventually something would come up and the fake name would appear. A Gotcha moment. It's a small world. Not a stretch to say that one of us or one her her family might be on the group she wants to post at secretly. If someone has a need to remain private then they need to use means other than a social media site like FB to deal with life issues. If people are worried about nosy neighbors or relatives then the answer is don't go to sites that are meant to help people find you. FB was designed to help people find other people who they may have lost touch with. Because that is the purpose it is not a proper place to hide behind a mask. It's a PITA for those sincere people who want to connect....See MoreAny of you on facebook?
