Do you really need 'privacy' in the kitchen? It doesn't look like people can see in from the street. How often do people go down your driveway? How easy is it to see in from the path? My guess is that if you are at a sink under the window, maybe they can see if and if they tiptoe through your flower bed, they can see right in, but who does that? It's the window to the left of the door that might be a problem with privacy. You don't want a tree blocking your entrance. As it is, it looks visually barricaded and not welcoming.

hi Maureen, thank you for this photo. I have been looking at plenty of inspiration photos and know that I want the house more off-white than white. Just unsure which paint color is going to give me that look best, especially knowing white paint looks different in different lights. I really like the photo you shared. Is the door Boothbay gray? We just painted our office Boothbay gray, and it's really pretty. For the garage, we currently have it white. I don't see why we couldn't leave it white. I've seen many white homes with white garages :)

It doesn't bother me at all to sit 6 inches higher than standard dining. I do not enjoy sitting in a line much if there are more than two people as conversation is harder. That's why I'm a lover of the curve or angle. I'm very glad those two heights counter's are out of fashion though. I think that seating was close to a whole 12" higher than a standard dining table. That was too much. It is possible that my different views of this come from the fact that I live in a warm weather state where most of our dining at a dining table was done out on the roofed patio overlooking the pool. We almost never used our indoor dining table area. I think at the last house I used the indoor dining table maybe twice in six and a half years. Casual meals for the two of us where at the big island with cozy swivel seats and back support stools.

Cute solid home! I’d remove shutters permanently. Stain the concrete window ledges the same alabaster as the brick. To me the window trim and alabaster are so close that I’d leave it. The big question is how to tie in the new dark wood stained door. I don’t have a program that would allow me to show you that. So if it were me, I’d try to find something dark that I could put that stain on, and literally wrap it around the columns on your porch. Just one column would be enough. Step back, and take a look! If you don’t like the dark, then personally I’d leave it the same as the white trim on windows.
