Have you ever been so sick you thought you're going to die?
Comments (56)Well what a great report from you, pitimpinai!! The last I heard you were still very low in energy and still on a ton of medication and little appetite, and listen to you, helping the neighbor till up a lawn! LOL What a nice neighbor you were to plant tomatoes and Dahlias. :-) I am happy to hear that you've also benefited from a shorter work day. Great that you had all that time off saved up. I bet you really needed it to get your energy back. We have gotten pretty much back to what is normal for us here. The weather has been stupendous in the past month! I have never seen the cover crop in the veggie beds so high. We've also gotten all the leaves mowed and collected in bins, ours and three neighbors. [g] We have gotten somewhat cleaned up for the year in the garden, but I keep adding to my list of what I want to get done before the weather turns. Still have a small amount of bulbs to plant and three shrubs to get in the ground, some pots to clean and put away and that will just about do it. I am actually looking forward to a break from the garden. Not that we don't get outside and enjoy it, but it's nice this time of year, to focus on other things. During the gardening season, the garden seems to push out other priorities. [g] I enjoy the winter garden and by the time spring comes, I am just itching to get back to a new growing season. Glad you are able to enjoy gardening again and hope you stay well this winter! :-)...See MoreHey Gene
Comments (8)Go ahead Cecil and the rest of you guys and rub it in. We can take it. (love all of y'all) Texas won fair and square but I bet y'all got worried once the sleeping Saints woke up. I think maybe the Saints felt sorry for you Texans and spotted you three touchdowns just to make the game a little fun, and that it was. And like most Saints games the ending was the best part. By the way, fire the field goal kicker. Rafed, we could have made a bundle with those canoes. Neighborhood were flooded all over the place here. Now I see it has moved to the Northeast and turned to snow. I'll keep the rain. I can't imagine the brutal cold you told me you were encountering up in Canada. You keep it safe on those icy roads so as you can be home with your family for Christmas. From the bayou, and the land of the Saints, "gene"...See MoreHey SoCal friends!
Comments (29)Yes, they are mostly out but the air up here still smells like smoke. Nothing like last week, though. I had such a sore throat from it all. I tried to stay out of it but had to go down to see my dad. He's had three strokes in as many months and gets kind of weepy when he doesn't see me. It's the old parent/child reversal thing. Anyhoo, the skies are much clearer and bluer this week. We are expecting another Santa Ana condition later this week but the winds shouldn't be as bad. I am above the canyons and passes where those winds roar through but it is the colder air at my elevation and coming off the high desert that causes those winds. The cold air sinks down and heats up in the process, becoming quite hot and dry. Hopefully we won't have any more fire bugs out there causing so much destruction. grrrrrrrr Thanks for asking! I hope your rain has tappered off. We could sure use some of it. We got some sprinkles last weekend but not enough to turn the auto watering system off. Maybe soon! Comments (60)Gosh, this thread had become about EVERYTHING but the topic! Stuart, You're very welcome. Always happy to share anything interesting I come across. Did you purchase your seeds from the Seed Depot (2nd link)? Please keep us posted on germination. I am really interested to see how they rate on freshness. I certainly hope you get some great plants from these. Oh, and please post an update on that wonderful seed you purchased from that cute little girl. Also, did you put up a "How to..." thread on creating elephant roots (X cut)? I can't find the thread but would love to bump it up for others to see. I have some "cooking" now. Aaaand... Did you see my first centipede roots? I only placed a loose button at the bottom but did lance the base rim and dust with rooting hormone. Sooo, the plants created them on their own. http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/4120042/question-seedling-roots?n=37 Maria Elena...See More- last monthlast modified: last month
