Comments (12)Zoenipp, I had a KA I loved, but they changed the racking ont he model I liked. The idea of having to take out rack parts and leave themon my counter or in my sink was a deal-killer for me. I went with Bosch. I had been opposed to them because the salesmen all told me I'd have to be cleaning out the mesh basket because it didn't have a disposer. Reading on this forum, I learned it really wasn't that big a deal and I now own 2 Thermador DW's, made by Bosch. That mesh basket? Between 2 of them and most of a year's use, running one or both nrealy every day, I have cleaned one smalle chunk of something off the side of the basket. I'm sure I would have had something similar even with the KA that cleaned well and had a disposer. It is eally a non-issue. These DW's also dry as well as the KA or any other DW I've had -- sometimes the little bit of water on the top of a glass that is flat and cupping water on top or in the rolled edge of a plastic container or certain metal edges that hold water. I really think that's a function of the item being washed and am not sure I'd want to subject the rest of my load to enough heat to dry those puddles. I'm not trying to make you unhappy with your choice -- I hope you like yours as much as I did the one I had and wouldhave bought again if the racking had been the same. But if you ever need to replace, don't be turned off from considering Bosch by salemen who talk about cleaning a gunky filter basket because htey don't know any beter. I doubt anyone of them has ever used one....See MoreNeed Help With Kitchen Island Lighting - 14' Ceilings, 13.5'X5' Island
Comments (10)Thank you for the responses. I guess a little more context would have been helpful! Let me see if I can fill in some of the gaps. Here is a layout of the dining and kitchen areas. It's not exact since this was the architect layout initially and we have made some changes on the fly during the construction - it's very close. The island is big and was how we wanted it. We have 5 kids. This tends to be our gathering place and with everyone wanting a hand in cooking, it just fit - and we have no regrets. Same for the ceiling height. That was also our choice and what we wanted to do - as the construction is going along...we absolutely love it! Definitely no lack of choices...it's just about finding something that really speaks to us. Less worried about price point than finding something that we love - although our budget is not unlimited. We selected this for above the dining table: Hubbardton Forge Etch We are considering this for the island Modern Forms Cosmic The lighting store suggested this above the island. We like this...but are having second thoughts. Hubbardton Forge Sling Front Entry Door Sconces: Hubbardton Forge Shadow Box Tall We don't have a lot of other fixtures in the house. A lot of recessed lights, accent lights, and ceiling fans. If you have any suggestions on foyer lighting, I would appreciate it as well. We don't want the traditional look of a large chandelier and similar to the island...looked at so many things that just didn't get us to where we wanted to go...and now just considering recessed lights. I hope this helped clarify things a little. Thanks again for all of your comments! Bobby...See More10/13 Survivor tonight
