I suspect that there are (increasingly) many who are uncomfortable with being quietly alone, reflecting, evaluating,being in the here and now. We are inreasingly having more external demands on our attention and get swallowed by the cacophony.

The ability to think for ourselves. (Too easy to look stuff up on the 'net.)

The ability to entertain ourselves. (We rely on technology to entertain us.)

We're too busy with 'things'. there is no time for creativity to develop. So we rely on technology to be creative for us.
