Want to buy a David Austin Tradescant rose
Comments (19)Gosh, Paul, here it is not only healthy, but vigorous. I got one years ago, planted it badly (after moving it, too), and then totally neglected it for years. When I finally rediscovered it, it was quite small, of course, but still very much alive.(no, watering, no fertilizing, nothing, zip) I dug it up; it had morphed into two own-root plants. I potted up both and last fall planted out the larger one; it's doing fine. By now, the smaller one is really starting to grow, and can probably go out not this fall but next. I do de-bud young roses, so I can't be positive about the flowers, but my impression is of a flower of a glorious, cool, DARK red (Munstead Wood-type "dark") that doesn't fade or fry in the sun. Flowers not too big, if memory serves me, but I definitely don't mind that; in fact, if anything, quite the contrary...See MoreQuick FB Marketplace poll (but not using poll format)
Comments (8)Lyfia, I think that it depends on where you live if you are able to see the "Buy Now" button. This particular seller does 99% of her sales through shipping. She is actually in WA (sorry, not CA) and almost all of her sales are paid through "Buy Now". My daughter, in MO had the option and was able to buy it for me once the seller changed it back to "for sale" vs. pending (the seller was trying to help me figure it out.) Seattle, I tried different meta sites asking fb support but that went nowhere. They're really good at redirecting though. there was only a small disclaimer that I saw that explained the slow rollout. My gut (and some of you) seem to be telling me that Buy Now still isn't available everywhere-or at least in SE Pennsylvania. I've been buying off FBM since it began in 2016 and I have never seen that option. (That being said, this button could be dangerous!)...See MoreI need advice about pre-paid card vs Zelle vs Venmo or other?
Comments (17)An "imprest account" is one that has a limited balance in it, is used for specific purposes, and is replenished periodically. At one time there were Visa accounts that granted no credit and are based on an underlying compensating balance in a bank account. Such an account - if there's $300 in the account that the Visa card is attached to, then charges that cumulatively total more than $300 will not be accepted. The card will not be usable until more money is put into the account. My kids had such accounts when they went away to college. I put so much in it each month (bank transfer) to cover their "approved" recurring expenses. If more was needed, they needed to contact me in advance to explain what and why (the answer was almost always Yes for reasonable things they required or were reasonable, fluffy stuff of the don't ask, don't tell types were on their own dime). It was my technique to help them learn to budget and manage money on their own. It worked VERY well as a teaching tool I don't think this is the same as a replenishable card but it may be and works the same way. There's no charge to make bank transfers, even to accounts in the name of other people in other banks. Read on for anyone interested, otherwise, stop..... One kind of imprest account used by businesses are payroll accounts operated on an imprest basis. If this Friday's employee payroll has been calculated and the total money to be paid out in wages and taxes is $100, then the payroll account has $0 in it until Thursday, when $100 is transferred to it from an account with a much higher balance and limited authorized signers. The payroll is paid on Friday and the payroll bank account goes back to $0. That way, employees who have access to the payroll account can only pay wages and can't redirect money out to spend for any other purpose....See MoreHelp with a Thank You Gift
Comments (21)Thanks guys .. so based on some of these responses, i fear I sound a bit like a socially backward friend. I know how to talk to my bff of over 50 yr lol. And of course we have both done millions of things for each other over the years -- grand and small. That said, I wanted to cover gas/tolls/parking because I'd have purchased train tickets and uber rides.. and because: In the give and take of life long friends, I am no longer able to give her as much as I used to in the "give and take" of friendship. I cant drop off a pot of soup or help her drop off her car at the dealership ... or whatever emergency or big things come up. I am dependent on others to get around .. friends, family, uber. It is important to me that I acknowledge their support and make sure they dont feel put out. It isnt the same as "hey, my car is in the shop can you give me a lift". My need is always and forever. You all are making me see that even with the above, it is silly to be concerned about paying her. As I noted above, I wouldnt accept money from someone else. I don't know why I would insist she accept my money. I am blessed to have sooo many people looking out for me and supporting me-- for my day-to-day needs, travel, surgeries and GTGs! ❤️ They are all very aware of how much I appreciate them. I hope you all know how much I appreciate you, your insights and fresh perspectives ❤️...See More- 10 months ago
