Costume composition question
I imagine someone who is greatly into comic-con stuff would have the best suggestion... how do I make a crown for a costume? Foam? Cardboard? Plastic? I want to give Hippolyta a go next Friday night. Though, I don't think I'll do heels or a revealing dress/skirt. It's for family friendly retail work.
From Walmart (sold out, you'll see). I think I could make a good enough version with most of the materials I have on hand.

last yearFoam is easy and holds up better than paper, stiff felt is good too. You can glue both - or even staple, and there are glues made especially for craft foam. Paper fasteners work well too.
Shiny stuff can be glitter paint, stick on jewels and similar.I'd definitely make a paper pattern first - fold the paper in half to make it symmetrical and adjust the fit.

Comments (11)You may want to consider using a different brand. I built a planter for my garden with LifeTime Lumber and it works great. It is VERY stiff, and it is not water soluble, so it will not decompose. Also, LifeTime Lumber is garden friendly, since it does not release toxins into the soil. http://www.ltlumber.com/ I built my planter on the balcony so that my dog would have a little grass to play on and it has a small aquarium in it to. Comments (10)Kitchendreaming, if you live within a reasonable driving distance from them in Ohio, the Mullet Cabinet folks will drive out and do measurements, drive the cabinets to you and install, etc. At the very least I know from my friend that they will drive to Pittsburgh, which is like 125 miles from them. Evidently they have non-Amish people to drive them around. If you're really far away from them, it's probably still worth calling them because I have found that Amish people who aren't in your area will refer you to Amish people who are in your area. There's this nationwide network of Amish people... Amish households literally have phonebooks (i.e., address books, plus phone numbers for the ones who have phones) that list every Amish person in America. So far I like the template when I hold it up. Used foam and I'm making the template like you said. I may use fasteners to hold it onto a headband, or I may glue it on.
