We EACH have a rechargeable headlamp in our bedside table. Then....Harbour Freight used to give these hand held...VERY bright lights away....I must have a dozen of them. I keep one in my glove compartment. One in every purse I own...Link to see

My phone is my bedside flashlight. But we also have little emergency flashlights in several rooms that stay plugged into standard wall outlets on standby and will light up if there is a power outage, They can also be set to nightlight mode but I hate lights of any kind when I sleep so I don't use that feature. Energizer has a 3 pack on Amazon.

We have night lights that are motion sensitive in the bathrooms - they're mounted on the wall and take AA batteries.

And I also have had the kind that plug into an outlet and come on automatically when it's dark.

Streamlight wedge is a great one. DH's family are obsessed with flashlights. We have night lights in outlets in any path from a bedroom to a bathroom. Removes all night time fumbling issues. The flashlights we have by our beds are used in case of an outage. It's never happened and yet each year there's some new small light DH just has to hand out like candy at Christmas.

I have all sorts of battery-operated candles and usually a supply of batteries, so during a power outage, I would only need to use my phone flashlight long enough to put the candles and batteries together.

Before phones had flashlights, I kept a flashlight in my bedside table, but it seems like every time I wanted to use it, either the batteries were dead or corroded. I had the same problem with the one I kept in the car.

My elderly aunt uses rechargeable bulbs in her lamps which work well in a power outage.

No BR can be too dark for me at night, and I don't want to wake DH. Even the light *in* our bathroom is a 'guide' light, not a 'night light'.

I think I've found something. GE has a small white rechargeable shaped like a Schmoo. It looks arthritic-hand-friendly as long as the button isn't hard-press. I'm not sure if the light is too bright.

The things you see! I'm glad I don't need the black light flashlight advertised as useful for detecting scorpions.

We use the plug in that come on automatically when dark. DH travels with one for use in hotel rooms that may not have a night light.

But frankly, I'm able to walk around a lot of the house at night in the dark as there is so much that glows these days...the digital clocks emit a lot of light as do the security keypads, the led lights on the oven and the MW. Seems something is always glowing at night. That's why I sleep with eyeshades.

Don't forget there is a flashlight built into your cell phone that can be used too.

I just bought a box of rechargable puck lights because our new water dispenser unit has eliminated the light feature. It was annoying since the old unit had the light and you could just walk right up to it without the overhead kitchen light. These little puck lights have magnets and they are motion activated. They come with magnet stickers you can use with them or you can carry them around. No batteries.

I have to have my bedroom completely dark. I even have foil over my back windows. NO LIGHT! I rather like Nicole's outlets. I could envision that being like an airplane leading the way lights. As long as it wasn't in my bedroom. I really wouldn't want to wake up my husband. It's a difficult balance.

I prefer a little light in my bedroom! Not as in artificial light, but the blinds open (closed while I’m getting ready, then open at least a bit right before snuggling in). But, DH likes it dark, so I use my phone. Not its flashlight, but just a blank screen is enough.

I was trying to find a flashlight for Dad that was eaasy for him to use, and it was not easy to find. The switch or button had to be in a good spot, and easy to press or slide or toggle.

Chisue, we were relabeling our electric panel and got an ”invisible ink” marker that we can read with our blacklight flashlight. We labeled all our outlets and switches on the FRONT of the plates with the breaker number, and the number is visible ONLY under the blacklight. For the things we had an electrician do, he thought it was such a cool idea that we gave him a marker and light.

Bpath, does Dad sleep alone? If so he could just have a touch activated bedside light. They're dimmable so one pat gives a low light. Pat again for brighter. We got one for my dad.

I rarely get up at night but if I do I just use the light from my phone screen.

I have several of the $2 small flashlights from Walmart. They are little plastic flashlights, about 3 inches long I guess, complete with the batteries already and they last a long time too. I just bought a new one yesterday as a matter of fact!!!!! I can put them in my pocket when I take the dog out. The button in on the end and is very easy to push. You will find them over by the sporting goods section, at least at my store.

Floral, thanks for mentioning the touch lamp. There is one in my son’s bedroom, and it is pretty cool, except that while the dim setting is great, you have to cycle through the brighter to a third tap to turn it off, just like a three way bulb. Dad has passed away, but he had some cool night light features designed into the house in 1970: the light switches throughout had a soft, amber glow when off, and a couple of windowless hallways had downward-directed nightlights built into the walls. But sometimes he needed an actual flashlight to do something. He couldn’t manage the button at the end of the little flashlights. And he needed something that didn’t press down into the flashlight, but that sat higher. (It can be hard to find exactly what you want, isn’t it, no matter what it is! I’m still working on replacing a perfect travel coffee mug I left behind somewhere. )

We have lights all around the house because the dog's sleeping place is unpredictable, and we don't want to trip on him. Chisue, Oski just turned 16...can you believe it?? :-)

I have this little pen light I use if I have to get up. I don’t have my phone nearby at night or keep any lights on as I need the room dark. I put my glasses next to it for size and turned it on. It’s an LED light but not so bright it would wake someone up. . It’s about the size of a small pen, but fatter due to the batteries. Sorry i don’t know the brand name but it likely came from Amz or Home Depot.
