I agree with Annie...but don't want to copy her... I'll say "offer alternatives"...."meet in the middle"...no two people think alike ALL the time....LOTS of disagreements....ask me how I know. ;0)

Feeling comfortable in our own skin, feeling basically satisfied with the way we are managing our lives and to our relation with the world around us.. Living in the countryside lacking a car for four years, I do quite a lot of hitchhiking. More than half of the folks who pick me up are female, mainly at least middle aged. Once while riding with a lady driver with her husband and a (fairly stout) late teen or early twenties daughter as passenger, when the girl, riding in the back seat, moved to make room for me I said that no one could accuse her of being shiftless, for she'd moved to give me a place to ride, and there was some laughter. When I said that it seemed to me that if a woman driving a car sees a man at the side of the road asking her to agreee to share space in her car with him for a few minutes, she must be feeling fairly comfortable in her own skin to be willing to offer him a ride. They agreed, as have others with whom I have shared that idea since. o j
