Opinions/Experiences on Bertazonni 36' Drop-in cooktop
Comments (4)I have owned the first one, the 6 burner drop-in cooktop, for 3 years now and really like it - we had originally been planning on a 5 burner Dacor, but were unimpressed by the knob quality (plastic) and the steel finish, then found this Bertazzoni for quite a lot less money too. I don't have experience with the 5 burner, so can't comment on the usability of the other burners when using, say, a wok. The 6 burner has been fine, although tight, for using large pots on adjacent burners, but I can only use small pans on the adjacent burners if I'm also using my wok on the superburner. However, I haven't found that to be an issue for us. I am very happy with the performance of the cooktop, and it cleans up very easily with a soapy soft-duty scrubby and a wipe with a microfibre cloth. I have put the grates through the dishwasher with no problems. I like the continuous grates very much - it's easy to slide a pot to a back burner, for example. I obtained a second simmer ring from Bertazzoni, to use with the inner part of the superburner only, so I am able to use two simmer rings at once. If you have other questions, post them and I'll try and address them. I think whichever one you choose, you'll like Bertazzoni....See MoreDrop in farmhouse sink? Will I hate it? Ikea Domsjo double
Comments (21)We have the Domsjo double sink and it is absolutely amazing. No complaints what so ever. It is huge, and exactly what we wanted. Don't mind sliding crumbs into my hand and just throwing them into the sink. 3 extra seconds. big woop! There is a HUGEEE cost savings with using the Domsjo sink. So the sink is 27x37 inches. That is 7 sqft. If you were getting an undermount sink, you'd have to buy the slab that goes across the sink PLUS pay for them to cut a hole in it. So assuming a granite/quartz around $60, the sink cutout just cost you $420 for the material to cut, plus $150 for the cutout labor. So about $600. Plus the cost of a comparable sink (at minimum $500-600). So, the Ikea Domsjo is $312 and no cost of cutout or the material to cut out of. Whereas you are at $1100 minimum for undermount. SAVE YOUR MONEY and use it for awesome countertops, backsplash tiles, better appliance, etc. :)...See MoreCan I use a Hercules Sink Harness to support a 80 lb drop in sink?
Comments (5)Strap systems, Hercules Universal Sink Harness and Sink Strap, are incompatible with drop-in sinks, because they push the sink upward. That's desirable for an undermount, not for a drop-in. After confirming that the top is supported by strip underlayment between the cabinet tops and the bottom of the top around the sink base cabinet perimeter, run a bead of caulk around the top at the sink perimeter, drop in the sink, Windex the squeeze-out, wipe it away and you're done....See Morekitchen sink - SS drop in, SS apron front, or white farmhouse sink?
Comments (5)Do you have to do a drop in? I would do an undermount, much nicer look. I use Le Creuset and other cast iron all the time, my SS sink came with a grid at the bottom, it's the best!! It really protects the sink from dishes and cookware. I had a farm sink previously and liked that one also, this time I wanted a more contemporary look and opted for a large SS undermount....See MoreRelated Professionals
