Home office - desk location...need to hide cords but want it designed
Comments (15)To hide cords, consider adding the equivalent of a "backsplash" to the desk but with a space between desk top and cords to disappear into so they can reach a multiple electrical outlet attached to the back of the desk. One plug from the multiple outlet will need to reach an outlet. Cords from desk top items will still be seen behind the items between those items and the "backsplash" They'll still be visible. If you drill holes in a solid "backsplash" board, you'd hide more of the cords. I've also seen basic desks with holes in the top of the desk at the back edge and the outlet hidden beneath the desk ... as this one appears to have: https://www.madisonliquidators.com/item/l-shaped-desk/4888/?adid=514792310094&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiPO61aui8gIVFfjICh1t1QTwEAQYByABEgJt_PD_BwE Such desks usually have rolling filing cabinets or drawer/file units with shelves and/or drawers to set beneath the desktop by each side wall of the desk. https://www.harperoffice.com/onyx-mesh-open-mobile-file-two-drawers-15-3-4w-x-17d-x-27h-black--2?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImJysmKyi8gIVWsDICh2DzADJEAQYAyABEgIx9PD_BwE Others have storage built in as a part of the desk. https://www.wayfair.com/17-Stories--Sproul-LShape-Executive-Desk-X114267104-L32-K~W003156093.html?refid=GX528945859912-W003156093&device=c&ptid=910691620078&network=g&targetid=pla-910691620078&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=113112265&fdid=1817&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiPO61aui8gIVFfjICh1t1QTwEAkYBiABEgIYMvD_BwE...See MoreLooking for ideas/advice for office desk lamp
Comments (7)true. I lowered my expectations already. Like so often, one thing leads to another things. In my case I decided to move (flip L of modular desk) my desk. As a result the lamp is now in the wrong spot. Also, the white-yellow look is getting old. In addition I have a desk mount that is screwed on top of table. If I move mount I will see holes in desk. So, I figured to leave the mount where it is and find an desk stand lamp. Looks like there is a bit of a tradeoff with function vs. design. e.g. the Z Bar and Tolomeo look nice (to me). Not sure how great the LED is of the Tolomeo. Both come with a fixed light color. Some of the "Amazon" products come with light color adjustments and other features....See MoreWhat rug would work best under this L shape desk in my home office
Comments (22)Wow, so excited to see such good and varied inputs on my request! Thanks @Flo Mangan - I am now certainly going for a ladder shelf for the corner. I am not sure of moving the desk away from its existing place for precisely the reasons @functionthenlook mentioned - my desk job can sometimes result in 8-9 hours, and I do plenty of video calls throughout the day. So not only is it nice for me to have a view (which BTW Flo is right, it is limited since the windows are a bit above my eye level (photo of the view below)) but it is also pleasant to have light on my face. Further, the remaining space in the room comes in handy when the occasional extra guests stay over and the sofa beds need to be pulled out. Thanks everyone for all the rug options - this weekend is going to be (window) shopping weekend :)...See MoreHelp with home office layout (desk and daybed)!!
Comments (1)First get a proper closet organizer with some space for the stuff that would go in a dresser A to scale floor plan would be great done on graph paper showing the closet, the window and all measurements clearly marked Posted here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT start anothe r post. Yoy need closet doors and it lookes like that coulld be a problem so maybe the best is a large free standing closet that fits that spac e. Is the daybed just always going to be a single bed or is it a trundle type for guests? I for sure would not have 2 dressers in the space so remove at least one and then a nice desk that sreves tour ourpose I assume you work from home . I rarely like multi purpose spaces and 3 purposes are IMO one too many. I will wait to see the floor plan but organized clothing storage is a must ....See MoreRelated Professionals
