what style of curtains?

We have this breakfast knock in our new house. My husband is currently looking at curtains and he’s looking at the two level farmhouse style where there’s like a valance at the top and then another bar with the curtains about a third or half of the way down. I am really not thinking that that will work here. What style of curtains or other window treatments would you all suggest for this breakfast nook?

Curtains or blinds/shades?

Why do you need to cover the windows? Privacy and/or sun control?

I don’t necessarily want them. Hubby does. I think it would look nice with some color

I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Of course, I haven't seen your bathroom, so perhaps one style matches better than the other. Just as a matter of personal preference, I like glass ones. I just stayed at a cottage that had the roller ones, and they didn't roll very well. You kind of had to jiggle the curtain to get it to move. I think this was partly because the curtain rod was wood.

Hi! Yes, I'm still considering colors. Went back to my BM store yesterday for more swatches. My DH has me on a one room at a time schedule. I like planning ahead because I like seeing the big picture. Right now we're finishing the kitchen. We just had our new wood floors installed this week. They are gorgeous. Next, we are painting the kitchen and then the LR and after that the DR. I have a million projects going at once! I'll let you know when I make a decision about the color. It needs to coordinate with the foyer which right now is SW Blonde. But I guess that could be changed, too!!

go ahead and invest in top/down bottom up room blackening cellular shades. You can position them so many ways and it's an investment with room darkening for a sleep space. every bedroom I've installed them has been well worth it. You can look for a cute rod and do a pretty valance across the top as you find fabric/have time later, etc......will look great with the antique piece. Looks like it will be a pretty bedroom.

I would not do valances just the cafe curtain on the lower half of window.

If you have no specific goal like privacy light filtering insulation blocking a view etc then get a pole / rings and a sheer to swish back and forth as you see fit. jc penny panels on sale or Ikea has panels ….curtains or shades or blinds can have a lot of features w liners / materials and other functions if you want the investment but you dont say what a goal would be.

start w basic sheers on a pole...you can layer other treatments as your space and your style evolve over time.

this room is bigger but you have nice windows to become a feature.
