Hanging my hummingbird feeder for the first time! Always on Tax Day in my part of the world.

I have been dividing my Liberties as they are multiplying like rabbits. I cut chunks off of two yesterday and planted them in patio pots. Will get some other things in the (big) pots too, like some type of trailers.

I have Halcyon, August Moon and Gold Standard..I like all of them..I've admired Brother Stefan and Fire and Ice in the alphabet..

I stumbled on to what I think is Snake Eyes at Walmart. It was on a cart that had hosta on it, but they were solid green.

I gave up on all those plants that were frozen in our 15 degree night. I dumped Irish Luck and the whole crown was rotted. It still had roots. I lost Krossa Regal, Royal Standard, Elegans and probably Guacamole. Guacamole is so tiny, I doubt it will make it.

BUT, I bought a nice one to replace it. Since it's one of my favorites, I won't give up on the little bit that has survived the freeze (so far, at least).

Other than that, I have two I Spy quilts to finish. My late Spouse has had two great-grands since his passing. One quilt just needs a label and the other only has a finished top, so a long way to go

I am tidying up my garden bit by bit. We got some bad news last month. Our sweet dog has lymphoma. The vet says that she only has a couple months to live.

Not much happening here lately. Several hostas are showing new shoots as I clean up all the leaves. I doubt I've lost many, if any but the past few years most have sufered from tree roots. I can't fathom trying to dig them all up and clean the roots. I do a few a year but it only lasts for a couple years.

I have sprayed some critter deterent on the new shoots and spread a little milorganite around.

Hung out the humming bird feeder, grape jelly & oranges for the orioles. I think too early but better than late.

The owls have left the nest but do return to roost and hunt the adjacent fields. I go out every day to try to spot them.

Paula - Buying plants already? our nurseries are not even open yet.

Paula, that’s a good hosta haul! I’m starting to see mine coming up, but we have a few cold nights ahead so I don’t want them to leaf out yet. Yours are so far along already. I like hearing your bird updates. I have Robins fighting with each other over nesting areas.

Bkay, that’s too bad you lost hostas to the erratic weather. I’d miss Irish Luck.

Undertheoaksgardener, I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet dog. It’s heartbreaking to face losing them. I hope she feels good for as long as possible.

Old-dirt, that’s so nice to have owls around. I haven’t heard my screech owl in many months. I figure it moved on.

I was at one of my local nurseries this morning. I resisted buying any hostas because I have an order coming. I got some spring blooming plants because I know they won’t be there long, but I’ll wait for a sale for some others.

Deer are being pests and eating too many of my flowers. I won’t plant any more tulips, that’s for sure, but they’re eating the smaller bulbs, too. If only we could communicate with them better. I don’t mind when they eat the weeds.

Happening now more daffodils and hellebores.

Undertheoaks, sorry to hear about your furry family member😢 You are both lucky to have found each other. The best and worst days are when you bring them home and when you lose them.

With me possibly due to heavy mulch I have minor bulbs and daffodils out, some pulmonaria started, hellebores and early primula. There are hosta pips under mulch but am happy the still sleeping.

I lost good number of hostas that were in the pots, lesson learned, not to transplant anything in the fall. I run out of energy trying to plant out late.

Utog, sorry to hear about your puppy, I like you making memories... My munchkin is on his 9th life, yesterday I was sure today is the day and he woke up and ate some food yet- yay to another day!

Love everyone birds pictures! We used to have an owl but not seeing it lately.

Littlebug, every time I divide or transplant hosta it reverts to it juvenile form. I love when it gets older and develop all those crinkles and wrinkles so unless I must I want it to stay in place forever. Do you overwinter your pots? I have little luck in new location it seems.

Lisa such beautiful plants. I am not looking forward to spraying every 2 weeks to keep the deer away from so many plants. A lady gave me a bunch of tulip bulbs and the deer ravaged them since they were up before anything else needed protection.

Looking good utog. I had a pot of Bletilla for years, they are so pretty.

I took a break from work and went outside for a bit. Lots of stuff pipping - yay! - and lots of early pippers that are just mush now. Hoping they will send up new pips, sigh. Like many of you, the unseasonably warm weather followed by a couple of hard freezes did me no favors.
