Comments (1)Upgrade the appliances to SS or even white as this very compact dark kitchen is drowning with the dominant black ones. Lighter floors will make a huge difference. But tell me you are not using laminate. It’s the fake wood paneling of flooring. And looks cheap (even when it’s not). I’d only eliminate the pass thru if you are planning all new cabinetry as well. The dropped portion of the ceiling is doing you no favors here by making the room appear even smaller than it is. If it only houses the electric for the potlights I’d seriesly consider removing them. Replace the entire ceiling when rewiring new LED potlights or similar. Ditch the fussy crown molding - it doesn’t suit the space and dates it even more. Only use trending colors in easy to replace areas (ie. wall color etc.) so no to gray cabinetry unless you are selling immediately. It will age out quickly IMO. Greige and white though dull to some people will work well for resale, age well and brighten the space. Good luck!...See MoreLooking for design ideas for an 'awkard' area
Comments (18)I'm guessing some of the things that look like walls are actually cased openings? How do you access the odd space? What extra space do you need? What are its dimensions? What additional things do you need? Depending on dimensions and your lifestyle I could see a range of things - office, sitting area, workout space, playroom for kids/grandkids, craft space, something else entirely? How to purpose odd spaces depends as much on your lifestyle and needs as it does on the space....See MoreLooking for Entryway design Ideas for home remodel
Comments (13)Hi, Jillian. I really like the charcoal, textural wallpaper in your vision board, as well as the lighter color with thin charcoal stripe runner. I think those are beautiful choices, along with the lighting fixture you found, but I would definitely paint the woodwork a white, cream or very light tannish/ beige color. Then again, it depends on your color preferences and what you have going on in your other decor. Is there a good stopping off point for the trim painting ? What are the predominant colors in your furnishings - any blue or green ? Those could be beautiful for trim ,as well. —- Would you mind sharing the vendor/ identifying info. about the light fixture in your mood board ? —- Bottom line, I think a foyer is an introduction to your home and your style . It shouldn’t really be decided/ decorated in isolation. I think you will get better input, Jillian, if you are able to describe how this foyer will relate to the rest of your rooms, furnishings and preferences....See MoreLooking for design ideas to restore/facelift our front house.
Comments (10)@millworkman I'll look for a picture of the back alley - it is very much used. The upper level of the house has a separate entrance and is airbnb'd. I'll find a photo of the back. This house is in another state and not our main residence. @kandrewspa Thank you for that inspiration photo, I dig that idea. I wish the house was on a less busy street and/or had nicer homes around it. It's one of those neighborhoods that has slowly improved over the last couple decades, but still comprised of homes split into multi-family homes and not maintained well....See MoreRelated Professionals
