Large gap between wall & countertop after removing old backsplash
Comments (6)three leaf clover: Check your countertops for level. Install plastic non-compressive shims if not. Place a continuous shim the thickness of the grout line on the counter. I've used 2 rips of 3/4" wide plastic laminate with great success. You may want to dab some hot melt to hold it in place. Adhere your tile to the wall, starting by placing the first row on the shim. Tile as high as necessary to get where you need to be. Grout the tile, then pull the shim and push color-match silicone into the gap....See MoreQuartz window sill - install before or after backsplash tile?
Comments (5)It doesn't matter that much. In fact, it my be better if the sill went in first so the tile at the jambs (if there is any) could die on top of it. Have the sill installer leave the returned ends proud of the wall enough that the tiler can get thinset, tile, and a 1/16" gap for silicone behind them. This is where trade coordination is critical. I'd have the tiler dab hot melt on a small piece of blocking on the wall that's the thickness of the thinset, tile, and gap. Sill man butts the return ends to the blocking and the tile man knocks out the blocking when he lays the tile. Sill man templated to the blocking; no way to screw up....See MoreTile backsplash installed before or after the countertop?
Comments (6)Counter tops MUST go first: ) And in addition, by a quality fabricator who does the template on site via a laser and you specify the edge, he shows you where any seams will be located, whre if any veining you want prominent and what is possible with your slabs/s etc. Then you sign and approve the laser template with all information. You are home, present and on the site for the entire install. : ) THEN you can address a tile installation, and you tell that fabricator you ARE tiling and require no riser for the tops. : ) when he templates....See MoreBefore and After - Almost done backsplash added
Comments (20)If you know anything about copper you know it turns brown ( tarnishes) …..if it doesn’t ….it is not copper or it is coated…check with your supplier and just stick to the non abrasive advice and you will be fine…my sinks are artisanal …hand made..this is what happens when copper is not coated...See MoreRelated Professionals
