Herringbone tile kitchen backsplash - bullnose or schluter trim?
Comments (46)ajracine, after I thought about your question, are you saying to take the 2"x4" inch (that is on a 45 degree with the herringbone) but run them in a straight pattern along the edge to line it? That would work. You might sacrifice a sheet to see how it will look to you. As long as you are okay with a 2" wide line of tile running vertical. Those would not need to be "polished off/bull nosed" like I was talking about. In my earlier reply, I was envisioning "rounding off" the cut edge of your mosiac. Sorry about that. I think I now understand. I think I would still go with a shluter edge or a thin pencil liner tile (if it blended well with your mosaic herringbone.) The reason I say that is the border you would created with the 2x4 tiles will pull your eye to the trim line/herringbone joint line, and take away from your pretty herringbone pattern. (or that is what my mind is seeing.)...See MoreHow to compliment existing tile and trim on kitchen backsplash?
Comments (2)Thanks, @JosephCorlettLLC. Yes, I will confirm everything is being done to code (working with reputable contractor and spouse is an electrician so we get it). We still have some choice about how we place the wood border-- terminate where lower east wall meets upper south wall (next to stove)? Turn border 90 degrees and run to ceiling on lower south wall? Should the under cabinet backslash on the east wall have the wood border or should we just tile up to the cabinets?...See MoreBacksplash help! Green/teal Zellige or white/ivory subway
Comments (12)If you can visit the Fireclay store, it's worth it. It's a fairly refined tile compared to the rustic stuff you started with and kind of a different feel. But playing on the table making your own tile blend can be fun. (And they will make just about any trim piece you wish!) And if there is a good Pratt & Larson display somewhere, take a look. They have an even bigger selection of amazing glazes (and also do trim pieces). (I like trim pieces. Can you tell? You don't want Schluter edging your tile in your awesome kitchen do ya? No way....)...See Morezellige backsplash
Comments (2)I measure for 11 boxes but need 12 because of zellige. The tile has different names from the different sources, but appears to be the same. I ordered samples from both. Bedrosians is backordered til January, CLE available now. I wanted it done for my daughters wedding in our home 12/31, but $700 makes me feel like maybe I don’t care? None of it is returnable from either location....See MoreRelated Professionals
