countertop advice for henrybuilt cabinets
Comments (2)I appreciate how much you have going on with your pregnancy. And I look forward with the rest of the GW community to celebrating the big arrival. That said, it seems a shame to be signing up for kitchen Reno elements that you don't love (or at least like mightily). If the surface feels flimsy in the showroom, I am guessing it will not fare better in your home under hard daily use. Keep looking.... There are Plenty of alternatives like the Corian witch hazel that someone selected. There was a post recently on that with photos. Good luck and good shopping....See MorePainting kitchen countertops? Any advice on epoxy based coatings?
Comments (10)I have no experience with this, but I wouldn't paint my counters. They just get too much use, constant wiping, etc and I don't think a paint would hold up well for long. When I read your post, I pictured some horrendous color counters, but seeing them, they appear to be white/ivory, which is a nice neutral. To get them professionally painted to me, doesn't seem cost effective, you can get in stock preformed laminates that are not expensive which would be new and durable and probably not cost much more than having them painted....See MoreKitchen Countertop Color Advice
Comments (20)OP: Sorry if I read through the posts too quickly and missed something (and I completely 'get' this being a new home and possibly you haven't developed any opinions on what you like), but you haven't told us what YOU like. I can understand your polling people if, at some point, you're thinking resale will be at play. But if you will be spending a substantial amount of time in your kitchen (whether cooking, entertaining -- whatever), I'd suggest walking through as many showrooms and viewing as many different vignettes as possible. It may hit you very quickly that you either absolutely love that darker counter; or, on the opposite end, you find the all-light surfaces & cabinets too boring (I'm keying off your initial 'very unique looking stone' comment). It's really difficult to get a true sense of what your kitchen will feel like from 2-D images. All that said, I prefer the final image (all light counters). I don't have an eye for any of this stuff at all (I'm very much a "don't know what I like, but I'll know it when I see it" type of person); but if you want to pull in more of the black, perhaps consider darker (ORB) cabinet hardware. Congrats on the new home -- very exciting!...See Moreadvice are cabinets dated can I paint countertops and flooring advice
Comments (1)Some questions need to be answered first: 1. What is your style? 2. I’m seeing tile and something else in the kitchen. What flooring domyou have in each room? 3. It looks like some cabinets have already been painted. Are your starting over or are those to remain as is? 4. Are you keeping the wall paint?...See MoreRelated Professionals
