Looking for 1' black gloss hex tiles
Comments (9)I had previously found the 1 1/2" gloss tiles from them. I'd still rather go with 1" if possible, but I guess I have to decide between three options now: 1. Go with gloss white 1" with matte black accents (border and rosettes) (total cost around $325 2. Go with 3/4" gloss white and gloss black (total cost ~ $375 shipped from Luxe Tile) 3. Go with 1 1/2" gloss white and gloss black. (total cost ~ $542 shipped from Mosaic Tile Supplies) Anybody done option #1? How kooky do you think it would look? One thing I did just note, the description of the Mosaic Tile Supplies' 1.5" hex lists them as " 1" from point to point". So are they 1" or 1.5"? I measured the tile we already have (from our other bathroom) and they appear to be 1 1/8" point to point. So I'm wondering whether the company has their facts straight on the dimensions or if they are mislabeled....See MoreGrout Color for White and Black Hex Floor?
Comments (4)I'll definitely try to get a hold of a sample of Silver Shadow as I can see from responses here and posts elsewhere that it is quite popular. I'd still love to hear from anyone regarding Warm Grey, Smoke Grey and Mobe Pearl. How do they range in terms of light to dark? Which comes closest in tone to Misty Grey, which seemed like a good color, but too dark? I want to avoid any blueness (so don't think Platinum would work), while also steering clear of too much beige (Mobe Pearl?). Thanks for the comments so far!...See MoreGrout Color - Black/White Hex
Comments (3)Very seldom do I like "white" grout, it just looks to stark to me, and to my eye it can sometimes detract rather than add to the composition of a tiled surface. Especially on a floor. I usually recommend what you and NC have already written about, which is a light gray, or a silver grout, in place of white for locations where people think they want white. My other recommendation is to at least consider the other extreme...a charcoal (dark dark gray, or "light black") or even a black grout. It really makes the white hex tile pop. For practical purposes, light or even white grout is okay for a private upstairs bathroom floor that might only see sock-covered or bare feet. But I've had a few people over the years that want a light grout in a public downstairs bathroom, or in a foyer, or in a mudroom. Light grout in those rooms will discolor/stain quickly, and with so much grout with small hex/dot tiles, discolored traffic patterns appear the the grout rather quickly. I'll show them a sample of dot with charcoal grout and it's a literal shock to them as to how nice it looks. The tile pattern pops, it really accentuates the light tile on the floor, and dirty grout is not a worry. And as to sealing grout...well, it'll still get dirty. Just my opinion....See MoreExperience with this Faux Carrera hex tiles?
Comments (10)I think I am going to use the Uptown on my shower floor. This is more a product of the tile fitting the color scheme I am using and being a good size for a shower floor (1 inch Hex). Things to note: is a thinner looking tile compared to some other faux Hex tiles I have seen. It is grey and white with no beige. The white reads white and not blue or like a mimeographed white. It has a bit of texture to it. i can picture it on a shower floor or wall, but not on a bathroom floor (too small and thin). It does not have a whole lot of veining. Of course, Daltile tends to display it on idea boards with white grout and that tends to emphasize the white. I like the tile, but don't think it mimics real marble. I also think you have to see it in person (maybe this is true of all tile) to make sure it is for you. Despite having seen pictures of it online, when I went to the Daltile store to see it in person, I walked right past it. Didn't recognize it....See MoreRelated Professionals
