A new updated living room corner help!

last month

I am getting a new sofa (yet to be chosen). Figure it would be a good time to get rid of my antique table in the corner. But its a good size space so not sure what to do with it. The lamp isn’t used for reading, just to illuminate the corner at night. The tv is in another room. The current sofa is 78”. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

the photos don't show enough of the space, But, I would pull the sofa out of the corner of the room more.

What does that window wall look like? is it a patio door? a view?

if not a TV viewing room, a conversation area? reading by the fire?

How many people do you need to seat? Why are you replacing the sofa?

Is gray the tone you love for the space?

Is this room off the kitchen?

Nice windows opposite sofa. Patio doors next to that. We are in a townhouse condo so have small deck and quite nice view in summer when trees are full out back. This room is adjacent and open to kitchen. we use room to read, listen to music and when we have company. ideally seating 6-8. Sofa is leather and starting to show wear. I think with all the grey in the room, a light cream sofa would be best? Fireplace is fairly new. Thanks!

Yes, 65" is the diagonal measurement. The actual end to end measurement of the tv is 57.5 inches. The wall that it is hanging on is 7'4" wide. Thanks! That is Hank. He is a rescue that I have had since March.

Jennifer - a concert pianist! That's wonderful! So nice that your kids are learning to play. I took lessons for a number of years, but it was never my "gift", as it has always been for my mother. (I do love music, though!) Yes, I think I'd use the floor lamp elsewhere. An end table with lamp would seem to me to relate more to the seating. The floor lamp does feel a bit "lost in space", but I don't think adding anything to the corner with it is the answer.

Wouldn’t suggest white or teal end tables, as they will be too jarring. Without being able to use a coffee table, I think a new rug will be really important and that, along with cushions and art, will be all the color you need for a calm and pretty room. Have a vision before purchasing anything, so room will be well coordinated. In regards to corner, a bookcase (keep accessories at a minimum like below) or tripod lamp to compliment your favorite lamp. Then consider side tables: Large enough for lamp, but not too bulky. Consider only one, or both at other ends; see how it feels. Help with living room with corner fireplace layout

I love having a corner fp. We always have a fire going during cold weather, and it’s nice having it next to the TV wall. Two focal points we can be facing. Makes for a very cozy seating area. :) Anyway, do you use those two accent chairs? If not, I’d relocate or sell them and get a longer TV console. Maybe something vintage? I’d center it/TV on the wall and hang art, put the plant on the right, etc. Then you could move the whole seating area towards the fireplace more. That’s how I have mine. Empty space between the TV console (a big old Jacobean sideboard) and fp, and art all around the telly.

The corner definitely needs light but also a place for a drink next to the chair? The people sitting on the sofa can use coffee table for drinks. Looking to somehow modernize that corner. wondering about a table/lamp combo?

What is your vision for the space. Are you going modern eclectic?

I love a round table in a corner for placing a good sized table lamp about 24-30" tall See below. i don't mind mixing styles. The wood adds some warmth to the room.

Honestly I'd select an English Saddle Arm sofa for this room or a sofa similar in style.

Select a better light to highlight the art over the mantle.

I like the antique table. It’s a good size for the space and adds a layered look. The mix of the shiny leather sofa and dark, heavy leather chair is more problematic. Since you’re in the market for a new sofa, choose a nice fabric instead of leather, and then replace the chair with something smaller, in a lighter shade of leather like cognac. This one by West Elm would be a fun update, and a much lighter look.
