Weird addition / odd layout
Comments (16)When people are searching floorplans to build there is an option to choose split floorplan for those that want the master separated from the other rooms. I think people want the bedrooms close when the kids are small and as they grow older they like the separation. Yes don't worry about cosmetic things such as windows not matching. That can be fixed, but isn't an item that has to be done immediately either. Worry more about things already mentioned here such as permits etc. I've seen way worse additions that doesn't work with the house at all and have odd ways of entering the rooms such as through a bedroom that has its entry straight off the dining room. That is an odd layout. A hallway leading from a main room is not....See MoreHelp me choose my front entry porch tile, please
Comments (80)Well, painting our doors is taking much more time than anticipated! Partly bc we decided to take them off to lay flat and spray for a smoother finish. Plus my husband decided to work on building our shed yesterday so i had to wait for help on a few occasions. But we need a shed so that’s ok! Prep took forever bc the doors are not in great shape. And those darn windows! But I got both doors prepped and we sprayed 1 coat of primer on 1 door. But then couldn’t move it right away and then had to hang them before dark! So we will finish this weekend! I’ll post pics when done. Thank you!...See MoreEntryway Open Living Room DILEMMA
Comments (82)Just looks like only 1 person can sit on it the way it is! Unless all the pillows are removed. Don't get me wrong, I love decorative pillows. I have 5 on my lounger sofa. Everyone but me takes at least 1 or 2 pillows off to sit/lounge on it. If you are ok with people taking the pillows off, then it's ok. But maybe have a basket on each side of the sofa for storing them....See MoreHouse has weird asymmetrical windows -- how can I improve curb appeal?
Comments (38)There really is nothing farmhouse about your home's style. The roof is Spanish. From the front, the board and batten and casement windows are contemporary. From the side, the house looks like it was a Garrison Colonial with the overhang filled in at one point. The solid wall makes it feel more contemporary. The extra trim around the windows look like they were added on at some point. This is a good example of an authentic, typical farmhouse. If you were to remove the front porch, it would be a typical Colonial with an addition on the back. This shows the overhang of a Garrison Colonial. Here, the entrance is in the middle rather than on the side. If you're curious as to what your house was look like when it was originally built, perhaps you can get a copy of the plans from the office that issues building permits in your county. You would more than likely be able to find elevation drawings that shows how the house was meant to look....See MoreRelated Professionals
