Best place for it, as the height is only noticed from the bed and placing in the far right corner won’t allow for TV viewing/will be butted up to fireplace. Just wondering…would the desk work on the wall on left if doorway placement allowed, or flush under the window and move chair to other side which may help with balance.

Add cushions and you may decide a rug is not needed. If you do go ahead, keep it neutral/soft and on the smaller size (with only the front legs resting on it and just a bit longer than the seating) so it doesn’t break up the room visually. Finish off with a beautiful mohair throw that plays off the rug. Your room is lovely, serene and elegant and I’d aim at keeping it that way.

It seems the left or right wall are the options. On the right you'll need to deal with the curtains for the windows on that wall. Can't see what's the size of the left wall between the door and fireplace corner.

How does it look looking into the room? It does seem a bit high for where it is. Will you be sitting on it watching TV on a regular basis? If not, for the few times it may be used by the kids, I don't think TV watching is an issue if you place it on a wall. Have you tried it?

I was curious if the full wall (vs under the left window) was a possibility and the desk may not feel as prominent or move to left of fireplace and add a large plant by the windows.

The advantage of leaving desk there is all the natural light when working.

I love the idea of adding a plant instead of the desk and move the desk to the left.I do think it will work :)

I added a picture of what the sofa looks like walking in. I'm not at the house right now but i don't have that side chair there anymore.

I definitely think the couch will be used to watch tv often, and maybe play video games for when adults want to send the kids upstair lol

Maybe try love seat a foot or so closer to fireplace to create more of a dedicated sitting area vs a tag on to the sleeping area and its height may also feel better visually.

Absolutely move the desk to the left. Move the sofa closer to the fireplace by about half a foot. Add a pattern cream and blue rug to definite that space.

Ps..... The back cushions are not going to "settle" and if they do, it won't be in a good way.

Take the back cushions off, store them, and get three 22" down filled toss pillows to accent the sofa. Two on one side, one on the other and a smaller lumbar. It will change the look entirely and you aren't watching tv in there all day.

Left field idea!
Your night stands appear to be taller than the mattress top...easier to use them if stands are level with top of mattress.
Perhaps elevating the bed legs by a couple inches may realign the general visual space and increase comfortable reach.
Sofa will then seem less tall...haha you could lower the sofa,too.

You could get a set of those inexpensive lifts for beds that you place under each corner. I think there are a couple of different heights available. They are often used in dorm rooms and with mattresses on frames to get more storage space under beds.
