Design Dilemma Exterior

help please with exterior paint!

I’d like to update our exterior paint color and would appreciate advice. I’m interested in looking at darker, earthy greens with a contrast color. A color consultant suggested terra cotta for shutters and garage but it seems off- too orange. Any suggestions? Also, should the upper level shutters be removed? Thank you!

Remove ALL the shutters, they don't suit the house

I'd actually get rid of the sideburn shutters beside the large lower level window, and just landscape around it.

It may be expensive, but I think painting the stucco white would totally transform the house. Then you could paint the wood frames of the windows the same color as the steel door and it would flow very nicely. It won't be cheap, but it will be worth it. Good luck!

Thanks again, this is really starting to come together. If we went with a sage with the creamish trim like the one posted by housegal200, would it look weird if we have white windows? The reim. Could be cream, but you would still see some of the white window frame. They are not checkered windows or anything like that, but they are white.

@ShadyWillowFarm - Thank you for your comment. You've responded very thoughtfully and kindly to other questions I've posted and I really do appreciate it! I've swerved slightly, and now think I'm going to go with Accessible Beige as my siding color. Making these decisions is definitely NOT my super-power!! But I think I'll like like the bigger contrast of Accessible Beige with white trim. The Wool Skein might be a little too light. Here's Accessible Beige and the Billowy Breeze (which is what we're painting our new front door) - they're leaning against our current front door which is the only place on the front of the house I can get them next to white: (Of course, photos on computer screens are not very accurate - I think it definitely looks much better in real life!) Now another painful task for me: How the heck do I pick the correct white trim color?!?!?! I think I might start a new thread to see if anyone will take pity on me...

Here are some green combinations. BTW you should ONLY be considering STAIN NOT paint for the wood on your house. Metal get paint. Wood gets stain so it doesn't peel off.

Take the shutters off the combo picture window. They don't belong there.

Carefully size your shutters so they match the size of your windows.

I would suggest SW Oak Leaf Brown. IF you need a contrasting color BM Brick House Tan

The light color would brighten up the inside of the porch. (I would paint the porch ceiling a very light blue)

I too would remove the shutters, too cute, not suitable for the size of the windows.

Green with the ochre tones of your brick and wood accents for shutters and garage door would look great

Personally I don't like dark colors over light colors because I think it looks top heavy, but you do you. I would look to use a color present in the brick, but lighter than what you currently have.
