Proper placement is important. Please help.

Hi! I know that if it's displayed correctly, it will look great.

I would like to add these two small shelves. One will hold a photo, and I want to hang a metal martini sign. Could you please suggest a layout that would be visually appealing to the left of the wine rack?

Consider a large print or poster to elevate the feel of the bar area. Shelves and small items are not substantial enough to compliment the wine rack, plus you can add some fun color to the area.

IMO a lot going on in a tiny space at least put doors on the cabinet and honestly you will be hard pressed to mix a drink with all thta stuff on the counter . No more dispaly shelves just a great piece of art now and be done less is more is agreat adage in most decor In fact I would look for a cabinet that can hold tall bottles so no liquor bottles on the top at all and that new cabinet could be a bit wider too

if its important to you.. that's good enough for me.. and as you note in #4 .. there is always tomorrow to be done with it ... here is 8 cuts.. since i pulled that number out of thin air.. lol ... i dont know what tools you have available... a good ladder and a pole saw.. some rope .... as well as a good pruning saw would really help ... a second person to hold the ladder ... and the cell phone predialed to 911 [emergency services ... lol] cuts 1, 2, 3 [blue] are cleaning up for attacking the bigger branch .. surely dont have to be pretty cuts.. but it can be good practice to learn how to do it right each time ... cut 4, 5, and 6 [red] .. are cleaning up the bigger branch... so you can work safer.. no need to have a nicely pruned tree if you poke your eyes out.. or kill yourself trimming it ... 4, 5 [red] , and 7 [lime green] .. you might be able to stand in the crotch while sawing ... use the rope and the second person .. hold the branch while cutting.. and perhaps a small tug at the final cut to pull it away from you or the ladder ... cut 6 would have to be made with a pole saw if you have one.. skipped if you dont think you can do it safely from the ladder ... this cut.. should take off the entire end.. contrary to the little red mark .... i think the final cut [8, magenta] has already been discussed ... you might.. in this situations cut from the exterior ... toward the crotch .. and have to slightly push the branch inwards as the saw starts to bind ... it will take a bit longer ... but you will have to cut it up on the ground anyway ... and it will be a whole lot safer in making it all fall down .. and you will end up with an easier final cut ... NO MATTER how the final cut works out.. it will be better than allowing the rot to continue down into the main trunk ... does all this make any sense?? do any of you want to debate the multiple cut system???? its how i learn ... always willing.. if you have a better idea ... ken PS: under the 7 .. i might now see some branches coming straight toward the camera.. if so.. make that cut 3a or 3b .... so you can stand up there later ... PPS: here is a similar cut on a much smaller tree ... pre prune post prune

I agree with up to the underside of the hood -- nothing above. We used a very similar hood (might be the same one) in a reno about five years ago. We had no uppers on the range wall, so had the backsplash across the entire wall, full height. We then installed the hood OVER* the tile. On the off chance you're considering running the tile above the hood, installing the hood over (in front of) the tiles eliminates the problem of getting the tile flush to the curved glass hood. It requires a bit of furring out so you can mount everything flush, but it worked out fine for us. *because one would think the tile went all across the wall, but I was a little itsy bitsy bit short on tile, so we left a hole behind the range hood chimney. Shhh . . . don't tell!!

Hi - sorry about your tooth! I hope everything is ok. I have been trying to think about how we prep/cook/clean up now and you bring up some good points. Currently, we have a galley and the sink is opposite the cooktop so I am used to that. It's small so I have 3.5' on one side of the sink and less than 2' on the other side and that is IT for prep/clean up/whatever else :) The cooktop is flanked by our wall oven and refrigerator and has less than 12" on either side (1962 codes!). Originally, we had planned to have the main sink in the island and then an eating nook under the windows and probably no prep sink. We couldn't make the nook work so then ended up with counters there and it made more sense, or so we thought, to move the main sink to look out the windows and to free up the island. I kind of assumed I'd do a lot of the work at the island and would get a bigger prep sink. However, now that I walk through those scenarios it seems kind of weird because the dishwasher will be on the other wall. For instance, making school lunches - I was going to have a drawer for their containers/boxes in the island, but assuming I use a knife and cutting board, would I then wash the cutting board in the prep sink but move the knife to the main sink? Seems odd. Am I over thinking this? I also envisioned prepping dinner at the island and on the range while my kids do homework on the other side. Regarding husbands, it's great having one who likes to cook even if he doesn't have much time for it :) After seeing a brief demo, and thinking about what we eat, it started to make sense. We steam or roast vegetables most nights and then grill or roast some type of meat/fish/chicken, etc. He fell in love with the Miele automation but I am skeptical that I will take the time to really learn it, especially once school starts up and our schedule gets busy. The Electrolux was my choice for a regular oven! We also seriously consider the Electrolux gas range. We still have time so am hopping to go to some of the combi steam oven classes or demos before making a final decision. It must feel good to have your appliances mostly decided. Have you started your project already?

Is there a way to display the martini sign, which was a gift, and the photo of the bar where we had our first date? Perhaps at least one can go above the wine rack. I feel bad not using them.

I would paint the wall, AND the cabinet black. (or replace the cabinet with a thrift find, bar cart.)

remove everything in the cabinet that doesn't apply to mixing a drink.

group ALL those framed posters together above the cabinet.

But first, I would take your photo to a professional picture framer and have it matted and framed to be the treasure that it is to you.

Hang it, centered at eye level and build the wall display around it.

You could get a bigger frame/mat for your picture to take up more space. I’m not sure I would add the martini glass to it. It is nice though

There is a lot going on in that space/corner! The necks of the bottles directs your eye out of the space. The wine rack would work better if positioned on the left. There is a LOT of little “things “ in the space causing a lot of clutter. No more little things. One large piece is better, but even that may be too much with multiple large art pieces on the adjacent wall.

Fun project! I love the martini sign. I agree that the picture would look better in a more substantial frame.

As you have it, I would move the bar to the right into the corner. Hang the martini sign above the bottles and the picture in the middle.

But, honestly, if you are able to move the wine rack, it would be better. In fact, I think you need a second, identical rack. One on each side with the picture and martini in the middle.
