Comments (40)Hi chicoryflower: I agree that would be nice. I have actually tried to think of a way of doing that--if the room were just a bit larger, and the door on the back fireplace wall were placed a bit differently, the addition of free standing columns along the division between the areas might work. I have tried to make free standing columns work with the current layout--there is just no way. However, when I repaint I will add columns around that door on the fireplace wall--that will give a sense of height from at least some vantage points. Also I have spotted a beautiful red vase (can't afford it right now), but when I can I think it would work on the cabinet that you see in the above picture to the left of the fireplace--a red vessel stands on the bookcase to the right, and I think this one will be about the same size. The red vessel on the bookcase helps the proportion there so I am hoping that a similar treatment on the left plus the columns, while not the perfect solution, could help. Love to see the pics of your aunts--I can always use a smile during winter--I do not like winter!...See MoreFront Lawn Renovation - Next steps - advice
Comments (42)Not mowing at day 50 with Kentucky bluegrass is not abnormal. The stuff goes into Sprout and Pout after it sprouts up and works on its root mass. I wasn't mowing all that much by the end of the first season myself, and I planted early. If you haven't fed since sprout (or not at all), a half-rate feeding wouldn't be a bad idea. Then feed at full rate when the growth on surrounding lawns stop, but yours is still green (a normal winterization, in other words, just timed on other people's lawns)....See More1905 kitchen brought into 2016: Before and After
Comments (36)Love, love, love your kitchen. What a beautiful space and functional, too! Being able to cook 8 pizzas with people in the kitchen with you and not having to ask anyone to move is remarkable and truly a testament to how well you designed the kitchen's workflow. I wish I'd have seen your idea of having the HVAC guy cut two panels of galvanized for inside your cupboard doors before I ordered a magnetic board for my command center. I have a feeling that people will be referring to your idea for a long time for their own uses. :)...See MoreRelated Professionals
