Help with TV location for Family Room
Comments (16)justgotta - Thanks! You know, that is an idea I hadn't even thought about - and am intrigued. It could be the best location. It is currently shelves behind for game storage; but there are lots of other places to keep games in the built-ins on the other wall as well as the basement/playroom. I'll have to see what we can do with that! Thanks! bonnie - thanks for the welcome - no, never posted before! terriks - that's what I tried to do... but it kept giving me an error message! vampire - these are my inspiration pix for the sunroom. The fabrics are from Calico Corners - they still have them - I think the close-up picture is from their spring catalog. I have a dark sky blue white white trellis pattern carpet in mind which I will probably do a wall-to-wall over the existing white ceramic tile - don't have pic of that. I also like the floral rug, but it might be too much. I also like the two orange rugs in the other photos... I don't think that will go so well with the blue/green. Maybe I could incorporate it into the guest room somehow. I love orange - my current dining room is orange and I am going to paint the new one orange, too!...See Moreliving room to watch TV and looking nice when not watching tv
Comments (17)Can you take a picture from the sliders to the wall across and plant wall towards dining? I think you should nail down the layout first. I agree with above, the first and last are too bulky and don't go in a livingroom. You have a lot of brown already, but the middle could work with a light rug, and lighter side chair/tables. The pros here can really help with layout so you don't cover windows and doors with furniture. From what I see now, the tv can go on wall with the plant with sofa facing... You have a pretty space to work with!...See MoreFamily room TV wall
Comments (8)Here's my 90 second evaluation: Nix the columns, cabinet door faces on two open boxes with one shelf inside, two drawers in each of the long horizontal openings, then large art sculpture, or vase where columns were. Mount the TV centered , fill top long hole with books (you can buy old books by the linear foot). Then some simple clean art/decore on shelf below TV. The wood face doors/drawers will warm it up from the drywall desert that it is now. Comments (12)Actually, arranging your furniture to face the long wall is better. You may find that if you try to put everything near the fireplace that you'll have a lot of empty space behind you, or you'll be too far from your TV. Actual distance for TV viewing depends on size of TV and quality of picture - but just for reference, the recommended distance for our 82" 4k TV is 10 ft. Smaller TVs are even closer than that. You may not want to sit that close for decorating/funiture arranging purposes but for viewing you probably can't get too close. This would also allow you to put bigger windows next to the fireplace. You may want to post your layout in the design dilemmas - I'm sure some designers there can give you some ideas....See MoreRelated Professionals
