Rot or moisture damage?

The wall next to our shower has a rot or some weird thing. I don't know what is wrong and how it can be fixed. We got mold testing done and thankfully they said there's no mold.
On the other side of the wall is master bedroom.

You definitely have water damage, from a leaky shower. You are very lucky if there is no mold in that wall. It looks very bad.

Looks like a leaky shower curb. Very common point of failure. Shower replacement sooner than later on the agenda.

I called the installer and he will be coming on Saturday morning to look at it. Storm last Friday for several hours and non-stop rain from late afternoon Sunday till Monday morning. I didn't noticed the raised floors till Tuesday evening. If installer feels he will fix it for free, that would be great. If not I would pay if new floors need to be up. He did a moisture test in October 2007 before installing it. He also did a great job! I believe it is 5 ply. It is Mirage Arizona engineered floor.

Hi There. Do you happen to have any pictures of the floors that were pulled up and the ones that are now turning black in the BRs(again) and LR. Very odd for the hardwood to all of a sudden become so moldy that it turns black. Usually with hardwood, if there are moisture/water issues, the floors will buckle severely before going so moldy that they change color. I also find it odd that the base moldings are not showing any sign of water/mold issues. Also, do you have pictures of the slab after the floors were pulled up? COREtec and luxury vinyl floors are great for moisture issue areas. Although, if there is something happening with the slab, it would be worth taking care of that before putting another floor covering on top of it. Chimney brick rotting after professional paint job and flashing damage

What a bummer. Chimney's design looks attractive though being on exterior wall, doubt the draft is very strong. Guessing that's why height was added. Agree you need a third party professional who specializes in this type of evaluation. The metal roof work looks great but the weakness of most above roof masonry is the flashing. Best practice veneer masonry flashing features through-wall designs. It's not rocket science but tough to find the right craftsman and more expensive to do it right. Most projects use the cheap version, saw cut reglet counterflashing which is probably what you have. Your tall chimney provides plenty of opportunity for water to make it through the surface of the brick. The water could be coming in at the chimney cap or pinholes/gaps in the surface coating. It seems like the brick might have held too much moisture at the time of it's paint job. If it's redone, allow the striped brick to fully dry and coat after warm, dry weather. No one wants to hear it but the best thing to do with chimneys is stop using them and tear them down. Eliminate indoor combustion pollution, water leaks, air exfiltration and all future maintenance.

Thanks for thr replies. I will check with my tile guy for redoing Shower. I wonder if it would involve replacing thr tub too, as it's adjoined and cabinets are attached to the tub wall. Do we need to redo everything?

I can check with my tile.guy and cabinet guy.

What can be done about the wall damage? There's a crack on the wall as shown in pic. Whom should I contact for this kind of work?

You wont know some of those answers, until you get a good contractor in there, and tear apart that shower, and wall. The wall, will most likely have to be rebuilt, as the damage looks pretty bad. Make sure who you hire to do this knows the proper way to waterproof a shower, so its all done right, or you could have the same problem over again. You may have to have some plumbing redone too. Go to u tube and look at videos, for waterproofing showers, so you know a bit more about how its done properly, so you can see, that your contractor is doing it correctly.

That will all get gutted along with the entire shower. Who else you may need will depend on your tile setters abilities, skillset and how much of this type construction/repair he will do. Ask him. He will either tell you need someone else and here is who I would call or I'll handle it all for you. We have no idea with that.

The 'crack' is the edge of the drywall corner bead--where it detached from the drywall. Maybe because it was glue starved/ maybe because of the moisture/ likely both. Like MWM said, that will all get demo'd when the shower area is gutted.

I would suggest using PVC baseboard when the room gets put back together. Appears that the existing trim is MDF--I would never use MDF in a bathroom. Least bit of moisture on MDF and it swells up and disintegrates.

There looks like there is mold around the other side as well. I would bet there is mold in that wall.

Your shower is leaking, guaranteed. This isn't going to be cheap to fix.
