Help me 'cute up' my front porch!
Comments (76)Jen, I'm just now seeing this thread and LOVE the changes you've made!!! They seem to go perfectly with your style and look so darn pretty! I think your DH's hot pink choice for the table was prefect. You've inspired me to take some chances with my own too sedate porch. Questions: ~ Did you use a primer coat first on your wicker? I have no idea myself, but I do remember painting a white wicker chair dark green once, and it just seemed to absorb the paint! Like yours, it took several cans to get it covered. I wonder if I should prime my wood table first before painting it? ~ Did you use a sealant on it afterwards? ~ Are you planning on painting the coffee table base? If so, what color? Anyhoo, I think your porch reno was a huge success and can't wait to see it with that (fantastic!) rug when it arrives. Keep the pics coming! Comments (17)If you can move the swamp cooler and radiator to the short wall, you could put the fridge on the range wall, with or without windows on each side of the hood. The longer rad under the pass-through could be re-used. The counter could be open below, with cabinets above. I don't know if it's possible, but maybe you could have the cooler and radiator custom built into base cabinets, with the radiator just under the toekick, and the swamp flush with the cabinet face (second pic). ETA, when we lived in western Colorado we had swamp coolers on the roof, which makes more sense, as cold air sinks. Did you plan to leave the long heater under the seating on the kitchen side of the non-peninsula? The DW should remain to the left of the sink, but with it open you wouldn't be able to access the uppers to the left--dishes would need to go in the uppers to the right. The cabinet under the seating, on the kitchen side could be reserved for items not often used--turkey roaster or canner, and the one on the LR side could be turned 90 degrees to open toward the LR, so that space is not lost....See MoreHelp me make up my mind on matching up climbers!
Comments (65)Whoa, this looked better on my phone/tablet, I swear! 'Florentina' again. From ARE, didn't bloom the first year I got her, then threw a bunch of blooms at me after I moved her! She must have feared the shovel, ha! More LOS Here's LOS, 'Julia Child', and 'Princess Elise', with either Winter Sun/Winter Sunset on the right, just out of sight. That's a 'Walker's Low' catmint in the front, which I might move to the back of the tower. I had 'America' sweet peas in the middle of this one. This is the basic design of my towers, for now - three (supposed to be) short roses in the front, and climbers on the towers. I can't remember if this one is 'Bolero', 'Wedding Garland', or 'Honeymoon'. I'm thinking it's Bolero. Apparently I didn't get any pics of 'Honeymoon' or 'Wedding Garland'. I'll have to fix that this spring!...See MoreHelp me design/decorate our front porch entry
Comments (10)Maybe a outdoor rug and some metal art on the back wall. Paint a turquoise blue or some brighter color. Or a wreath even if you like them. Like this:https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/three-posts-4-piece-wall-decor-set-thps3885.html Even if you find something thats more for indoor use a coat of Rust-Oleum spray paint would give it enough protect in that covered area. I would definitely paint the entryway white or some other much lighter color to brighten it up. A colorful pot with dried flowers or pine cutting for fall/winter. You can paint a red clay pot with any acylic indoor or outdoor paint. It weather's off a bit over time and looks "rustic"....See MoreRelated Professionals
