Cabinet, counter and backsplash advice

Updating counters, backsplash, and repainting cabinets. Floors will remain the same. Would like a whiter quartz counter maybe with gray, whiter cabinets and white backsplash. Will this work? The current cabinets are a premier white as is all of the current trim and shutters. Any suggestions for cabinet paint color that brightens it up a little? Any inspiration pics?

I’d be cautious about white and grey counters, if they are cool toned, with your warm colored floor. If you can find something in a warm white or cream tone, that might work. Also, if you want to lighten things up, how is your lighting? Do you need more lights or brighter bulbs?

Leaning more towards a warmer white counter with maybe some gold/taupe tones to work with the floor. The current cabinets have too much yellow in them so looking for a brighter white that isn’t too blue/cold.

what do you like? The cabinets are going to be the "in for the long haul" element. Dark counters with a little sparkle can look great, or lightish as well....I wouldn't worry about the floor.....mats end up on tile[hardness] and potentially someone would swap the tile for a more resilient product in the future, but be inclined to leave good cabinets...so I'd see what would be appealing with the cabs. What is the style of the cabs?....the stain sounds warm and nice.

If you like blue, you might try using a blue gray finish on your island cabinets only? It seems like so many try to attain a finished kitchen that reminds one of the old sienna color photographs. No one really wants to live in shades of brown and gray all over the world. That can be monotonous. I really like the backsplash slocoja shared in her photo. I bit of shiney is really pretty with the silver chrome appliances, but maybe limit it to one or 2 lines thru the center of your backsplash, and than use the choice for your countertops in the backsplash. I think you might enjoy that more long term. Especially since you have so many different heights of window frames, cabinet trim, lines of molded cabinet doors and vertical lines in your windows... Do a couple of lines of your silver, or even a dusty blue or blue gray even if you can find it(goes with any other color you can think of for the next 3 decades, like blue jeans do? LOL) if you like that amongst the backsplash which matches your counter top, and let your island be the color you have planned in your picture if so... That way your eyes won't tire of all the movement in the kitchen, so many angles on your backsplash, the reflection etc.. I would do it at the height that splits your outlets in half, one to 3 lines of horizontal mini tiles. Very pretty!!

Soapstone is impervious to heat and staining. The soft and medium hardness varieties will indeed scratch or chip easily _but_ the hardest kinds do not. Check out companies like M. Teixeira and ask them about their hardest stones. No one should use a knife directly on stone btw - it ruins the edge, but if you have to live with countertop abusers in your household :) then an appropriate soapstone (or perhaps a honed Virginia Mist granite) is a good option. I did go with soapstone myself in my recent kitchen remodel - Black Venata, which is somewhat soft . .As a consequence my counters are acquiring a patina of light scratches and dings, most of which are visible for a week or two and then slowly fade away. There are always a few fine marks, but they are never the same ones. It’s an evolving surface, which I’ve come to really like as a factor in its own right. It feels like the kitchen has some life to it. - I appreciate that it is not static. And I love that I can set down a roasting pan direct from the oven without a worry,. As for spilled wine or tomatoes ?Phttf. No problem.

Also, I was thinking about getting a single quartz stone just to avoid the too many grout lines (May be white with some brown/grey vein). Do you think it will look good?

its hard to tell anything...the one small window is not giving much natural light. the walls are too dark..and the under cab strip lights are very yellow it appears.. So painting the walls....changing of the lighting where you can and after that I would change the backsplash....then see how things shift. Cant even see any lighting in the ceiling and no pendants. I would not paint the cabinets for simply another shade of white until all the simpler corrections are completed.

Better pics to show lighting. All of natural lighting is in kitchen dining area. The cabinets need new paint as they are pretty beat up. Likely going with a white/off white subway tile.

It's a complicated case since you have the gray walls, brown counters, and pink-tan floors.

You might have success looking at colors that are actually very pale greige.
