My local lumberyard KD recommended the Debut cabinet line which is builder grade but with all wood dovetail drawers and soft close. In the Estate line the bodies are particle board but he tells me he can upgrade to wood sides for no extra cost. Quote was $6300 for my 15x13 L shaped with crown moulding. Does anyone have experience and feedback on Debut Cabinets for kitchens? thanks!

My son installed Legacy Debut cabinets in his bathroom approximately 2 years ago. He is happy with the cabinets and they cost less than 2 other options he was considering. His cabinets were the Designer level which on the comparison chat is the right in the middle of their 5 levels. The cabinets are certainly basically fine. He chose natural maple (no stain). We didn't realize that natural maple comes with an allowance for mineral streaks, worm tracks and varying amount of heartwood and sapwood on the face. In addition to this, it has an allowance for small closed knots or pin knots. If I had known that I would have told him to upgrade to select maple. One of his cabinet doors had more of those characteristics than the other doors did and a couple of the stiles/rails were quite a bit darker than the others. It doesn't really bother my son but I complained and the cabinet company ordered one new door at no charge. His lower vanity cabinets were supposed to have fully adjustable shelves but there were no holes drilled inside the cabinets for adjusting the placement of the shelves. The cabinet company sent a service person to fix that. Since he has no linen cabinet, he ordered some shallow wall cabinets for his bathroom for extra storage space. Why? Are the in the way? They appear to be inside, so they shouldn't be visible. Do you need them? I don't know. (This will also serve as a "bump" so some of the cabinetmakers who frequent the site can chime in.)
