Comments (4)Yes, life is good again... My part time job I love resumes this coming Monday and I have another job on the side...both involve butterfly gardens :-D I just hope I can keep up c 3 jobs... Our snow is completely gone now, though I still see a little frozen ground here and there. Highs in the upper 50s and mid 60s all this week :) I'm just waiting to see my first American Lady or Red Admiral ELF...ETA around three weeks or so as soon as the host plants grow in....See MoreWhen do new fans appear??? Fall, Spring???
Comments (2)Typically when a daylily blooms the scape will come up in the center of a fan. That fan will split into two new fans. There are exceptions, such as those that form rhizomes and make new fans from the bottom of the root mass which then comes out the side. Often those daylilies that "sit and knit" need 2-3 years to put on substantial size before they begin to divide but when they do they make up for lost time. So - here I am, talking to you folks, as well. 'Sno joke, folks: it's SUPPOSED to be SPRING! Even this far north (and I am farther south than some of you in the northern prairie states, being slightly north of Detroit, about even with Port Huron). ole joyful...See MoreScapes are beginning to appear here
Comments (5)Dumortieri was late to bloom here too this year. Normally it blooms here in late April, and one year bloomed April 10. It has been in bloom a little over 2 weeks now, but blooms have been more down in the foliage than I have ever seen it. I think Selma Rose will be in bloom in the next day or 2, with Fernstone another day or so after. I see scapes everywhere. We have been having lots of rain, my plants look so huge, I am going to need to divide a lot this fall....See MoreRelated Professionals
