Trying to decide on paint color for kitchen/living cherry wood
Comments (2)Take a look at BM Affinity Meditation. It is a grayish olive. It's working perfectly with my cork floor (Eco Cook in Toledo) which is a fairly deep orange, my beech butcher block countertops and cabinets in BM White Dove. I also had my heart set on a grayish blue but I couldn't find one that didn't clash with all those warm wood tones. Very happy with the Meditation....See MoreTrying to decide on paint color for PR
Comments (9)mldao - Thank you for the compliment. You're so sweet. I think I sent you some pictures of me trying to make a color decision, so I'm not sure I'm the best one to tell you which one to pick :) I honestly think they're all pretty and you can't make a wrong choice. Since you have Northampton Putty in another room, and know it's pretty, why not use it? I can't tell in the pictures I posted, but in looking at my samples, Hancock Gray looks like it has a touch of blue in it, so that may be why you like it better. I ended up painting my entryway Woodstock Tan. I decided I needed something less green to go with my paneling. It ended up being the perfect color, because it looks brown during the day and green at night. DAY EVENING I still need to get a new picture for above the chest, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Laurie...See MoreFamily room painting over paneling. Trying to decide on a paint color
Comments (11)Google ”mudroom paneling ideas colors” and click on images. (I know you are not asking about a mudroom, but mudrooms are where people get creative with paint colors on paneling.) Most of what I saw were shades of white, cream, blue and green. You could add different color keywords to your search to try and find pictures with paint colors that you like. I am not fond of brown paint, but that’s just me. You could also google house exteriors with stone and wood siding, and see what colors people are painting on the outside to go with their stone. Add another keyword like ”light” or ”white” or ”brown” or ”beige” or ”green” to see pictures in the color family you are thinking about. I read an article about filling in the paneling grooves with drywall mud to create a smooth wall. I don’t know how well it works, but it would open up your color options, I think. I’m guessing that if your keep the grooves, your color options that look natural would be more limited....See MoreI’m trying to decide on kitchen cabinets. Stained, painted or both?
Comments (3)I’ve read that painted does’t hold up as well as wood (I think I’ve even read it on cabinet maker’s websites); also that wood has been making a come back. That said, littlebug is right, it’s highly personal. No matter what you are thinking about, research, research, research and choose the best quality you can afford, especially since this is your forever home. You want to be happy with your choice down the road. Be encouraged: you are already on the right track, knowing you want and need quality as an investment and that you’d prefer to do only once!...See MoreRelated Professionals
