Help With Kitchen (Newly Purchased Home)
Comments (18)The biggest problem is going to be the handles since they can't be removed. You could paint the cabs, glue on beadboard, or cover with a vinyl beadboard wallpaper everyone will think is the real deal . You can leave the wallpaper white or paint/glaze, with the glaze catching in all the groves, giving more dimension. If you want to go a step futher, glue strips of wood(2" trim) on all 4 sides, but dealing with the handles isn't going to be easy~to make it easier, go around the handle with the wood trim. It's a little bit of work, but would give an updated 'look' until you decide to do something more. As for a wall color, a sage green with black accessories and light fixtures(faux wrought iron)would be pretty~I purchased brand new in the box at my local Habitat for Humanity, a 5 arm and a 3 arm for $25. Check to see if you have one near you. A couple of containers of red geraniums on or under the window sill for a splash of color. Comments (7)I would prime with a 100 percent acrylic bonding primer. Have the primer tinted to a medium gray. I would also sand the vinyl first. Cottage Red is a stock BM color, so that means it will cover very well if you use BM paint instead of having it matched in some other brand. Factory tints are much stronger than machine tinting done at the paint store. If you try to paint Cottage Red over white vinyl that you had custom matched at SW, I bet you are looking at 4 coats minimum....See MoreTown Proposing a Fire Station Adjoining my property!
Comments (28)I don't know, jane, I think you may be underestimating the average person's ability to filter out familiar noises. Out last house was next to a train track. There was a major intersection nearby, so the trains would generally blow the horn as they approached. It didn't bother any of our babies (or our dog), but it did bother anyone who slept over at our house. I find it interesting that my husband (a firefighter) never misses a night alarm at the firehouse, yet never stirs if our dog barks or the kids wake in the middle of the night. I never fail to wake for the kids, but sometimes sleep right through a ringing phone. I think you are wise to check into how this will affect your property value, but you might find that the noise doesn't bother you as much as you'd think....See MoreNeed help identifying a couple plants on my property (N. Comments (5)The first one isn't what we call Winged Sumac up in this neck of the woods (Rhus copallinum). Too many leaflets and I don't see any 'wings'. I hesitate to ID things in Florida, because I'm really not familiar with what grows down there, but could it be wisteria? Just a guess The leaves on the second one look a little like peach leaves. (That's the genus Prunus too.) The third one could well be Bradford Pear. The last one I have no idea....See MoreRelated Professionals
