Your dining table in the "den" would not be in direct line with the door. But I get your point; it's close enough. The dining room is directly opposite the kitchen, and the two situations are said to cause loss of vitality and make you short-tempered over time. Put up a curtain or screen to block the view from the dining room to the kitchen and entrance. Even if you decide to use this area as an office/den it would still be a good idea to screen it from the entrance and kitchen. You have one poison arrow corner in your dining room. Place a faux plant, or a large sculpture in front of that protruding corner. Put your etagere in the area next to the faux plant, and place a mirror on the wall overlooking the table. The mirror can be square or rectangular and hung 3 to 5 ft above the floor. Have a bowl of fruit on the table that is reflected in the mirror. Below is a picture of what I have described, and it's traditional feng shui—a dining room only. It should never be used as a catchall for dumping things. I'm not saying you can't sort your mail on the table, but you should never let stuff sit there.

We need more information! Photos would help. If you could sketch out a floorplan of the room, it would help us figure out how much furniture you can fit and what size, and how best to lay it out. Knowing the size of your sofa would help, too.

Looks like a NYC apartment! Here's a floor plan to consider. A four poster bed will create an invisible wall around the bed without blocking it off. The position of the bed should have the headboard on the back 115" wall. This way you can embellish luxurious bedding and good sized nightstands. With your sofa in the middle of the room, it makes the room even smaller. The furniture layout shown opens everything up with good wall space for art. That one window should be a fantastic window treatment, as it is the first thing you see when entering the room and it will balance the bed area. Position the dresser to the side of the sofa facing the bed. Suspend art or a large mirror facing the bed as it will also serve as an entrance "foyer". What's through the French doors? I'm assuming it's the eating area and kitchen. Very cute studio.

It can be a challenge for sure. My two young adult sons are both in studios, different configurations and they have different needs for their spaces. So, what are your needs? Do you do any work at home? Do you need space for some kind of computer, laptop, tablet? Do you use your device to do all your life management like pay bills, make appointments, etc? Or do some things require paper, pen, and maybe storing the paper? Do you have a tv, or does your computer device screen suffice? Do you game? Stream? with friends in person? Do you cook/bake? Do you need to accommodate books or the like? How’s the view out that wonderful wall of windows? How long is the wall between the bathroom and the living room? Would a bed fit, either lengthwise or widthwise? Are there any vents or electric breaker boxes you need to account for? (My sons have radiators, and especially for one of them, the radiators really throw a wrench in furniture placement.) One of my son’s studio actually has the kitchen around a corner, which is nice. The other one found a screen to separate his kitchen (he is not good about dealing with dishes, but also there is so little space, a lot of things end up sitting out.) So, how tidy are you? Do you have a piano keyboard? Seems like an odd question, but my one son has to accommodate one. There is only one closet, is it enough for your clothes? Does your climate call for seasonal outerwear? Would a set of drawers in the closet be enough for you, or will you need a set of drawers or a wardrobe in the living area? Do you need to accommodate a bicycle or scooter?
