What size fan/s should we put on a 19x12 pergola?

Hello everyone. We are in the process of installing a 19x12 pergola. We are undecided as to should we do one bigger fan or two smaller ones. If we do two smaller ones what sizes should we go for? Same with one big one. Is one better than the other option. Appreciate your help.

How will it be laid out? will there be a grill under there also? I would do the fan centered over the seating area and consider a bigger single fan 52-60" . How high is the ceiling?

If there is no grill area, then 2 smaller fans would be nice as long as they are far enough apart to not compete with each other ( otherwise they can wobble ) .

Looks like a great space!

How will you use the area under the pergola? Picture's? Surrounding area? Context is key.

I need to see the prgola usually those are open on the sides so really not much need for fan.

I posted this already and who knows where it is, but it's a crazy non-sequitor in someone's thread. And you probably saw these anyway. Here is a jib thanks to chijim and Arch. Digest. You can see it, but all this says is "THIS door isn't as important as the others". I have seen Obvious jib doors in dining rooms that said "The Servants Come in through here, You Don't". Speaking of Dining Rooms. See the columns here. Notice the wall thickness. Notice also that they ranked the orders, with lower order on the pilaster and higher order on the full column: This dining room would only be improved by DeGournay grisaille paper with the figures in color. That would be On Crack. Please do a scenic in your dining room. It would only add another $20K to $50K to the budget. What bugs me in this picture is the "smoke" coming out of the mirror over the mantle.

Too funny indeed. I was just going to see if I could find it. I am updating because I decided to call Hansen which had the most friendly website. They actually give advice (sounds like a match made in heaven for me) and I put on my big girl panties and deliberated and took some guidance and thought a bit and ORDERED a fan. They were very good in that some of what I was considering was not really appropriate for my room or there were better choices. They did not upsell. I ordered this- Emerson designer with remote and wall switch and all in Venetian Bronze!! I initially thought I wanted white, and still think it's classic.......but they have room viewer feature and I loved the venetian bronze. What a pleasure it was dealing with them. I

Should we put 9 ft. or 10 ft. ceilings in a new Craftsman build?

cpartist give excellent suggestions for how to deal with 10 foot tall kitchens, keeping the ambiance Craftsman and attractive. I will note I find 9 foot tall ceilings plenty fine for me, but go with feels comfortable to you. Although I do have a cathedral ceiling in the public part of the house.... (No, my house is not Craftsman). As someone else noted, you'll have to change your door heights and other aspects of your home to go with the increase in ceiling height - and that's not going to be cheap. Even at six foot one, I don't feel cramped in homes that have 8 foot ceilings - I was just in one (probably built in the 60s or 70s) this past Sunday (after months of not being to get out and visit folk very often at all). It was fine. But 9 doesn't affect pricing as much as 10 feet would. Please don't do without upper cabinets. You'll hurt resale, as not everyone is going to want to stop everything and remodel as soon as they move in. Even though I mostly have drawers, the lowest one is always a pain to access anyway..

We’ll be using it with outdoor seating, it’s not finished yet, they just started so thats why i didnt post a picture. But there will be a wall on one side.

30" fan. using two depends on placement.

what about lighting? and placement? you don't want a fan interferring with the lighting, creates a strobe effect.

This is what its looking like, there will be a wall on the side of the fence. No grill underneath, just seating area. ceiling is 10ft high

Wow that doesn't look 19 x 12. I think I would do one fan 50 - 60" centered. Watch the height of the fan - the ceiling doesn't look to high.

Maybe the picture doesn't seem like it but it is 19x12 and ceiling is 10ft high.
