I don't find this a particularly good mix. The rust chairs is lower but also seems to be wider than the blue chair. Why do you want to mix the two styles?

@lisedv I'd like to somehow connect the livingroom and dining room which is separated by the kitchen. I'd like for the blue to be a main color but i love the color of rust.

There are lots of ways to connect blue and orange in the two walls.

Using two styles, different heights and colors will feel odd and if only doing to combine blue and rust there are better ways. I’d go with the color that best complements the sectional and then select impactful art to pull the rooms together.

Both chairs are beautiful. It's quite common to have a different end chair vs side chairs. The chairs you're looking at the blue one seems more appropriate to be an end chair leaving the rust one to be side chairs, and I would prefer to see more of the blue color for the sides because that would be just too much rust for an elegant space.

Just use the rust. They are beautiful. You don’t have to be so literal in your quest to connect the two spaces. Two well designed spaces, each with plush upholstery in powerful colors are enough to make the two spaces correlate.

I am a fan of mixed dining chairs but can't say that I care for either the blue or rust chairs.

NO they do not work together , whay are you trying to mix them at all? I see only 5 of each one what is going on there ? How many seats do you NEED all the time ?

@jackowskib I agree completely. I think IF I were to mix I'd want to see more blue, but they are more fitting for end chairs.

They are too similar in style with the all-over upholstery.

Accessories to connect the two rooms...

The two chairs are two different versions of a similar style and they will just compete with each other. Go for one or the other but not both. As people have pointed out… there’s lots of small ways to visually connect the two rooms together with accessories. You don’t need the same colour scheme repeated in both rooms. Where are you have blue happening in the sectional area the rust chairs could work well for contrast. And then have rust accents in your living room space. Even a bit of rust in patterns, objects, rugs etc. would be enough.

If you use just two of the blue, at the ends of the table, I think it could look great. Just make sure they are returnable, just in case!

The blue chairs feel more “dining room” to me.

Hmmm… I would probably do it the other way put the blue chairs at the table and use the rust ones as the end chairs because they look more like captains chairs with the arm. It could work.

Thought visuals might help regarding creating the connection, to follow up on the above comments.

Large art in both rooms is highly suggested.

Rust chair(s) and consider a new rug in LR…if interested/if yours would work in DR.

Take your time accessorizing to create a space that reflects you.

Cushions can add a lot and include ones with pattern and texture.

@Maureen I'm realizing I like rust alone, but not with blue. I created another post with new stools and chairs I was considering and I ordered them yesterday.

Agree with @lisedv that the deep brown is prettier with the blue chairs.

Just to understand, are you returning the rust chairs and getting the 4 brown and no blue?
