Question about mixing dining room chairs
Comments (14)Slinkey: You're the one I saw recently with the wood table and Parson's chairs! I love your set. But I think you're pretty far from TX, aren't you?? ^_^ Susan209: I got on Craigslist all the time! And I would totally consider getting a second-hand one. Biggest issue is having the cash for one (where at a store I could pay for it in installments). But, I keep my eyes peeled. Although, just yesterday I found someone selling 6 Parson's chairs (with decent slipcovers) for $50 each. So, things are out there. Joann and Linda: Thank you for the wise advice. You're right about taking my time. My husband has already suggested getting one of those folding tables anyway, and with 9-10 adults and 7 kids (ranging from 1 yr to 18) slated for Thanksgiving, they wouldn't all fit at a formal table that would fit in that space anyway. And, of course, another issue is money. I'd rather save for something nice than put something on credit (and then have something happen where we couldn't pay off, ya know?). That's why I love coming here and reading everyone's points of view -- many, many years of experience. Thanks again! You've given me much to think about (and I really do think that maybe the rented/folding table and chairs may be a better solution for Thanksgiving, and I won't feel so frazzled to get a house in order and new furniture in and can focus on what matters most -- family!). *hugs to all* ^_^...See MoreCan I Mix These 2 Chair Styles Around the Table
Comments (21)I just don't love the metal chairs in that kitchen. As a stand alone object I think they are ok, but I think they are out of sync with the room as a whole. Those chairs are vaguely Memphis inspired, vaguely post-Modernist, and they remind me of the movies Beetle Juice, and Ruthless People. And the horizontal bar between the loops is kind of like a towel rack, sorry :) They are whimsical, and in the right place, sure, but that isnt a whimsical room. The thing I liked about the mixed BW dining room is the Benches. I could see Two of your chairs, used as the end chairs with wooden benches that looked like your island maybe. The chairs on the ends should be the "character" pieces IMO and almost any chair you try to put with those is going to invert that, unless they are really out there....See MoreAll metal dining chairs, or mixed - metal & fabric
Comments (8)There are two things I don't like here. When the backs of chairs at a dining table are not higher than the table. And uncomfortable dining chair.s Who wants to sit on a metal chair. And putting cushions on those metal chairs would not look good. My advice would be .... either get 6 chairs or 8 chairs (you're showing 10 and that is too many for that table). Do not put chairs at the ends of the table, that space can't handle it and the look of a farm house table doesn't call for chairs at the ends. Get chairs that have a higher, rounded metal back but come with an upholstered, cushioned seat....See MoreCan I mix this coffee table with my couch and dining table?
Comments (35)groveraxle, Thanks for the photoshops. That actually has me back to considering the light grey concrete one the most as it seems to match the overall asthetic better than others I am considering. May not be as thin as what I would prefer but the singlular central base feels like a good compromise....See MoreRelated Professionals
