@ace_tx From what I've read a lot of people are suggesting what you said, so I'm thinking that would be a good idea.... can you just help me understand it a bit more? Would I run all four of those wires to where the tv would be in the room? or only 1 rg6 quad coax and 1 6pr cat5e/6 lines to where the tv and they other 2 would be at a different location in the room? (Then of course all those wires would run to the central location, right, and plug into what?, I'm not sure - guess I can figure that out later) Are there any other cables I should have behind my TV in the main viewing area (assuming my dvd player and stuff are in a separate cabinet)? Are you sure you really need a gigabit connection from your house to your workshop? The gigabit connection does nothing for your internet connection and is only useful for very high speed data transfers on computers or NAS within your LAN. Are you using equipment with true gigabit ports and performance on them? Do you really need that kind of LAN speed? If not, just break out an unused 10/100 pair from the CAT6 before the terminating connector at each end to use for your POTS. By definition, any VOIP adapter whether LAN or WAN is no longer POTS and will require an active network. While it's possible to design a low pass/high pass filter to separate the two, the same as is used for DSL delivered over phone lines to the house, it will inherently drop your speed back down to a 10/100 Mbps LAN.

I like a lot of the rules of feng shui but also feel rules r meant to be broken. I always decorate my bedroom to be a peaceful retreat: no TVs, no computers, phone turned off at night. Only music. As far as walls and doors and windows: I pick the most comfortable one to fit the furniture in an attractive, uncluttered way. In my new tiny cottage I started out with the headboard against a short wall, feet facing the hall door but found it too cramped to make the bed with the night stands on top of it. I was able to see out my windows into the back yard though so for awhile I liked this. But I now have the headboard under the windows with much more room on either side for the night stands. I didn't think I'd like it but the first night sleeping in a new direction felt great. And that's good enough for me. I also like being able to reach back and open/shut a window or blind from the bed. So far I'm loving it. Now instead of looking out the window down into the yard, I look at the other walls and the art I hung. cool.

On the separate bedrooms thing, dh and I can not last a night together! One of us will get up and move, to the the floor if necessary. We tried for 5 years to share a bed all night long and we were both miserable. But 15 years later, I can happily report that having our own bedrooms promotes martial stability, peace and contentment. I can go to bed at three am, read late, toss and turn, let the dog out to go at 2 am and have no curtains in my room. I love seeing the stars from the bed and laying diagonally across the king sized bed. He can go to bed at 9 pm, have blackout curtains, use only one blanket (I need 3) and rattle the windows with his snoring. Neither of us like to be touched while sleeping either...two peas in separate pods....
