Comments (41)Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor....See MoreWhy is it so hard to find what is in your mind! :) (Bathroom cont)
Comments (24)it's confusing until you see a pic of my fireplace that previous owners had when we bought the new place..)) it has(had) this rainbow slate plus white mantel. immediate feeling of something inherently wrong. the feel of the slate is somewhat rustic.the feel of the mantel is traditional. the slate has, like, 6 or 7 colors is in. The mantel is warm white-doesn't correlate to anything in the stone, really, It just reads like a mistake, like a "wut?". they should have gone for a stained mantel if they loved the slate so. now i'm not a slate fan but i must say-it might grow on me too wasn't it so off with the rest of the space, it was also in the living room-dictating nearly every decision around had I decide to leave it while bathroom is a separate place, a smaller space, and you feel much more free to integrate there a material like a multi colored stone if you like it i also feel this "no white" recommendation doesn't really pertain to the fixtures. the baths toilets sinks etc are usually white, that s how we're used to see them..they're also shiny, different sort of surface, and they'll work in any space-they also repeat each other, and one of the main rules(that I find useful lol) of success is repetition of elements so if your future slate ties with the trim-and it will as we know-that's already a part of equation successfully sold. what she says in the article basically is "great! don't paint that trim then"...See MorePrimary bathroom - water closet or no water closet and why?
Comments (67)I honestly don't understand the gas chamber mantra that gets tossed around here. We are physiologically designed to be more sensitive to and more disgusted by the waste of other people than our own. So anytime a person is forced to occupy a space that recently contained someone else's waste it is unpleasant for them. The best way to make it more pleasant is to limit the time any person might have to spend in a room where someone else's waste has recently been. The easiest ways to do that is to limit the purposes of the room used for waste or schedule waste activities so there is no overlap. Increasing the space to dilute the odors doesn't really work that well. If you don't believe me, take a walk near a cow pasture....See Moregrout color advice for bathroom floor- dark vs light
Comments (21)PEI is not DCOF. They measure different things. One measures resistance to abrasion, i. e. foot traffic. The other measures the slip resistance of the tile when it is wet. A condition that tends to occur a shower. This is why it is important to use a tile with an actually tested rating of .42 or greater....See MoreRelated Professionals
