Ideas for Wallpaper

Hi,
looking for wallapaper ideas to redo the chalkwall. Other walls and ceiling will stay the same.
The room will be turned into a boutique for clothing when earlier it was my kids playroom. While I would have ideally wanted to change all the colors (esp the ceiling) but I do not want to take up painting projects therefore opting for wallpaper.
Any other ideas are also welcomed.
Pls excuse the mess.

Do you hang your own wallpaper?
Comments (6)I've hung my own wallpaper for years. It doesn't require that much skill, just the proper tools, a good sharp utility knife and patience. Dry strippable pre-pasted wallpaper is the easiest to use, and to remove once you're tired of it. Walls should be cleaned first, and primed to allow for easier removal. I would suggest that a beginner not start with wallpaper that has a large print on it, for there is more technique involved with matching seams and measurement with large prints, plus considerable more waste. A stripe or a small print would be the easiest for a first-timer. There are plenty of websites that give good instructions on how to do it. You should give it a try! Comments (12)I completely forgot that we are covering the utility door so that it somewhat disappears. We've lived in this house for 28 years and that door has never stopped being an eyesore to me. The door allows front access to our furnace and air conditioner so the opening needs to be as large as it is. Access from the pantry is not possible because it has built-in shelving and isn't terribly deep. It was originally designed to be a guest coat closet (it faces our front door). FYI: the new 15 light pantry door will have the handle on the kitchen side instead of the living room side for easier access. We are toying with the idea of putting piano hinges on the utility door for a lower profile look. What I'd really wanted to use there was a stereo cabinet type door that swings open and then can be pushed back into the closet but there isn't enough clearance on the side of the furnace to accommodate the thickness of the door. The grasscloth itself is pretty simple (i.e., not a lot of woods or thick fibers) but the paper it's on is fairly thick. Fraying and bending was certainly a consideration so I decided not to bend it around any corners. Even still, there is the problem of fraying, and to be honest, I'm not sure I really know what to do there. They do sell clear strips that protect corners and keep wallpaper from lifting due to people brushing up against it but I never liked the looks of that. I like nice clean lines and don't really want to put anything on the corners if I can help it. Any idea what someone might charge to hang this little bit of wallpaper? Comments (1)Rather than wallpaper I would take this opportunity to put together a fabulous gallery wall which will make your very handsome room look spectacular. Art (and books for that matter) lend so much personality and individuality to a room. A modern room like this can otherwise end up looking like a high-end hotel room which I'm sure is not your goal. Comments (15)So I like the bench and the light fixture and think you are correct about the art distracting! I would put 2 chairs opposite the bench, and tuck the third one away to bring out when needed. And find a great planter or vase or object to put on the shelf over the step stool. And I bet the step stool is there because you need it on a regular basis, but if you put a hook on either the left or right inside cubby wall, it would practically disappear....See MoreRelated Professionals

I see you have a colourful collection of clothing so I would keep the decor neutral. You seem to have a few nicks on the walls and quite a few stickers which will most likely leave marks when removed. Why not take this opportunity to start fresh? Painting isn't difficult and really not expensive. Then if you still want wallpaper, I'm suggesting a neutral mural (see details below). Then install curtains on the window, replace the flush ceiling light with a long white tracklight for good lighting in the room, place a wicker chairs and side table in the room for your clients.
Paint the walls and ceiling a warm white in a matte finish and the baseboards and trim in the same white but a satin finish.Here's the info on the mural:
