$ 200 barstools in a Designer Kitchen? You won't find anything except at a thrift shop.

Barstools in an environment such as yours are one of the most used pieces in the entire house, its not a place to skimp. A classy and comfortable bar stoll will be more along the lines of $ 2,500 each, but that will also be one that you can sit in all day long. I sold hundreds upon hundreds of barstools from my store. I've tried them all. This is what I have in my own home, the Hancock and Moore Steele Farm. If there's a more solidly built and more comfortable one on the market, I have not found it. You get what you pay for.

Also, no backs on barstools means backaches. I have never had a single client happy with their backless barstools as they used them. Not one.

I would check out wayfair, west elm, anthropologie, but it might be hard to find any for under $200 a piece (although wayfair might have some).

Wow surprised at how rude some of these comments are 😅 my house is not modern it is very French. I’m only showing the kitchen so you can’t see that. I did post before about lights but got only one response this time I’m needing help on barstools. Maybe if I add some picture of options k was looking at. I have found a lot of affordable options. We have actually built this house with a lot of blood sweat and tears we are our own builders are doing most of the sub work ourselves so even though it looks pretty large and crazy it was done on a tight budget and I would rather not have been so stingy to just not worry about the cost of barstools. I believe you can always make something beautiful on any budget.

Here are some very well priced options I have been considering

To me, the metal barstool would be uncomfortable after about 30 seconds. I would think about what the counter will be used for. Will you be eating breakfast or lunch there? Kids using it? Guests visiting while you are cooking in the kitchen? All will factor into how much comfort is needed. I think something with some kind of back is preferable if the counter is going to be used.

None of those will be comfortable!

I try to buy seating with comfort and durability as the main criteria.

So I have lots of little kids that’s why I’m looking at things that can be wiped down rather than cushion/ comfort. Honestly my kids seem comfortable anywhere so I don’t think they will complain but if I spend thousands on bar stools just to get ripped or stained I would have a panic attack. We will have plenty of couches and comfortable seating in the living room which is open to the kitchen. Mainly wondering about what ascetically looks good rather than comfort.

Here is my last kitchen. We had these metal bar stools. They were super inexpensive, easy to clean and my kids spent many hours on them even fell asleep sitting at them. We loved them! However obviously they won’t work for this house as they are a total deferent style then what we have going on but I do know we will be fine if they aren’t super plush.

IMO the bar stools should be in a dark finish to match the chandelier and contrast the island selections.

I’m not sure if these fit the decor..but I have these from West Elm..about 200-220 a piece. I’m really happy with them and they are comfortable. The finish is a thick lacquer…very easy to clean.

Something that can be wiped down if the kids are mostly going to sit there. These look comfortable for adult visitors as well, but it’s vinyl. They’re slightly above $200 each.

While they are faux leather - the stitching and style make them look much better than most faux leather. However - these are almost twice as much as your $200 budget.

These are very similar to a much more expensive stool (I can't remember where I saw them - I've looked on and off for stools for my upcoming kitchen renovation) - these are two for $369 on Amazon - the charcoal seats may be better with little ones.

Keep in mind it’s counter stools you’re looking for NOT BARSTOOLS because the seat will be too high

If you can find a swivel style you like, get it. There’s a huge difference in being able to get off and on the seats when they swivel.

I can tell you one thing from my own experience. I purchased barstools that were under $200 at Target....since they were just for my basement bar. Big mistake. They were all somewhat broken within two years. It's not worth it. Pay a little more and you won't have to replace them that quickly down the road.

However, I do have one really inexpensive barstool to show you. they are built like a BSH! If you know what that means lol. I believe they are commercial rated up to 500 pounds. I have a set of these that are now 25 years old! Everyone fights to sit in them....they are so comfortable! They're built well and will last for a long time!

Only issue? They don't have many styles to choose from.

Stylewise, they might not be perfect for your kitchen....but they are a workhorse and guests will love sitting in them.

I can totally understand wanting something inexpensive for now, until the little ones are older.

You might want to check local places and websites (FB Marketplace, etc) for vintage ones, too.

Pottery Barn Tibetian barstools- wooden backless saddle design and are very comfortable for longer sitting plus slide under the island overhang to get out of way.

Grandin Road has a slightly more upscale ulpholstered version.

Update Found some stools that checked all the boxes AND well below the budget and I don’t think they cheeper my space at all but rather add to it.

Beautiful home! A consideration since you mentioned kids using the stools: use floor protectors on the bottoms of the legs, something like these (this is what I use) or felt pads. We have too many people coming for holiday dinners and other events, and I don't want to worry about someone scraping my white oak floors with either a bar stool or dining chair. Yes, the pads wear out over time, but they're inexpensive so who cares? Better than scratching the floor.
