I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. Wow, thanks bumble doodle! Tt is great to know that the tub works well as a shower. We are tall too--at least most of us (two of my teenage daughters are twins and one is 5'2" and the other is 5'10", so maybe the short one complains a bit but that's ok, since she complains about everything!) We are getting the non-jetted version. Also, I am hoping that building the deck at the front will help with the water spray. I am pushing the tub back into an alcove under the window the long way (so we get into the tub at the 32" side rather than from the 48" side) and we are trying to go without shower doors in order to make the bath feel open. With a deck, we buy a few more inches of length to help avoid water on the floor. We may not succeed and will put a panel on if we have to. Any thoughts on this?

We just installed a curved shower curtain rod with our girls' 1-piece tub surround. We needed to mount the rod into the drywall, at the very top forward area above the surround. This made the placement too high for standard length shower curtains to look good (it looks too short) and it also cuts a lot of the light going into the shower. We are using our existing shower curtain for now until I have time to come up with another solution - perhaps adding length to the existing (very nice) curtain or purchasing a new one. Hope this helps! The rod, which we bought at Lowes, works great otherwise. Sandy

You may need to do something like this with quarter round: Had I realized something like this ahead of time I probably would've packed the whole wall out another layer of backer board so the tile came up over that edge.
