Comments (4)Ok, and Echeveria and two Aeoniums! I'm glad for that info as it'll save me from planting it in the wrong place again. The Echeveria has blossomed over the years, but I haven't paid it much attention and can't recall the blossom except to say it was pink and at the tip of a long very study and very tough stem. I think the first Aeonium is Kiwi. I have a few around and a couple of the others have that black stuff too right in the center. I have no clue what is causing it. No blooms yet. The big green Aeonium was a single rosette about 8 months old. No blooms yet. I stuck it in that under 3 mini roses I had in there. Had to move the roses out as the Aeonium kept growing. The rosettes were so squeezed together that I didn't know how huge they'd get until I took the last rose bush out. Now the ones on the outside are like saucers! I'm rooting cuttings from it as once it overgrows that box I'll have to throw it out as I don't have any more room for it around here....See MoreSago palm age
Comments (6)As a matter of fact, cycads can live hundreds of years, many hundreds. The oldest potted plant in the world is an Encephalartos altensteinii which has been potted around 1775 and can still be visited (like an old gentleman that he is) at Kew Botanical Garden. I couldn't find exactly what age or better how big it was when it was removed form his habitat, but I think it was already a nice specimen, not merely a seedling. Of course, Altensteinii is known to be one of the fast growing cycads, but still, that one you are talking about could be very old too. Comments (0)I've googled and googled, but I can't seem to find anyone who is having this particular problem. My elephant ears (in huge pots) grew nicely, but I notice that all three of them are following a pattern: The largest (and presumably oldest) leaf turns yellow and dies. As soon as this happens, the next largest leaf begins to turn yellow. Meanwhile, new leaves are opening and the rest of the plant looks healthy. Is this the normal life cycle or is there something I can do to fix this?...See MoreRelated Professionals
